It’s sooooooooo cute!
thank the maker for the non-hypersexualized waist
i’ve found a really great theme in paintings of sappho where she looks either fed up with everyone’s bullshit or completely horrified and i like to imagine that she’s reacting to people who insist that she was straight
like
“the women sappho was talking about were just her friends-”
“sappho was writing from a man’s perspective-”
“sappho’s poems weren’t meant to be autobiographical-”
How the hell are there people in the world who think Sappho wasn’t a lesbian
How is it possible for ANY actual human being to be that stupid and/or deluded?
honey if your name starts being a synonym for lesbian then it’s no secret what your sexuality is
me: *has a romantic thought*
me:
you wanna ship your oc w/ a canon character? luxury ship that shit. you wanna make all the fan-children w/ your oc/canon? do that shit you wanna write all sorts of shit w/ your oc doing intricate plot/world building? fucking write that shit.
Don’t let any overly-critical asshole w/ a keyboard and a stick up their tuckus tell you otherwise because whats important is you enjoying the media you love and expressing it however way you want. I’m so tired of this mentality that you no longer can fucking interpret characters the way you want and you have to stick by the line. Fuck the line, erase the line, draw a fucking zig-zag over that motherfucker. You do you, you be happy, and you create, because that’s the shit that counts.
Ask yourself why you have these “preferences.” What do you find unattractive in black men? Are they stereotypes imbedded in racism? What traits do you find in guys who “fit” your preference? Are they closer to European beauty standards? Do they have small noses and light eyes? Take an introspective look at yourself and really question why you like what you like and why you do the things you do.
This. 👏🏾. This applies for black woman too!
or it’s just what I’m sexually attracted to and has nothing to do with race.
If you’re not sexually attracted to someone because of their race, doesn’t that mean it has to do with their race? 😐
if you’re not sexually attracted to someone, it’s your preference. I’m just saying I don’t think, “oh all black guys are hideous!” I just don’t find them sexually attractive. I also don’t like blondes, but that’s just a preference as well.
You don’t find millions of black men sexually attractive? That’s racism. Why? Because millions of black men do not look the same and you’re basing it solely off skin color. It’s not a preference, it’s racist. The world isn’t a Sean Cody video, brown people exist.
I’m mixed race and know very well both sides of this argument. So I want to add a few things for either side to consider: *African Americans oftentimes do have larger features, including lips and noses. Is it possible that may change a person’s level of attraction, not the color of one’s skin?
*We are bombarded with false images of beauty and are naturally attracted to these false images, causing men and women to attempt to change their features regardless of their heritage. Is the person themselves to blame, or society’s perspectives on beauty?
*Sadly, stereotypes of races are highly pressured in society and thus many fall prey to said stereotypes. They associate themselves with them, they identify with them, and they choose to follow them. Is it the false representation of cultures that could be associated with “unattractiveness”?
And finally, a question and concern: Why are we prioritizing the beauty of one race because they’re a minority of society, instead of prioritizing the beauty of all races as to not separate anyone from society?
Being mixed, and having a variety of features from both of my races, and seeing those sides of me being separate instead of joined, is frustrating. Why are we seeing color? Why are we seeing stereotypes of any kind of any race? I feel as if advocates for minorities are idolizing the idea of “white people being attracted to black people”. You’re still prioritizing race. Fighting the wrong fight.
TRUE BEAUTY IS WITHIN. THE EXTERIOR WILL NOT FOLLOW YOU TO DEATH. YOUR WEALTH SHALL NOT GO WITH YOU, NOR YOUR BODY, NOR YOUR VIEWS. Praise your conscious mind, and see into others’- there you will find everlasting beauty.
-Colorblind
Reading this gave me Diarrhea. Get the fuck out of here with your colorblind logic. Color exists, racism exists, ignoring it is not the solution. Eurocentric beauty standards are the norm, and until we talk about them and dismantle them nothing will change and minorities will always be viewed as less attractive. Seriously, shut the fuck up holy shit.
For a long time I didn’t think I was attracted to black people. It was my “preference”.
I’ve since realized that I was (totally unknowingly) racist in that. I didn’t want to find black men attractive because they were dangerous. I didn’t want to find black women attractive because they were trashy (and then a whole bunch of other reasons that have nothing to do with race).
Stereotypes and Eurocentric concepts of beauty totally affected who I let myself be attracted to.
Then, when I started realizing how I was being racist, I had people mock me when I expressed appreciation for black people. I was told I must only like thugs and douchebags. It’s fucking toxic.
Looking at a single person and I’m saying"I’m not attracted to you" isn’t necessarily racist. But looking at an entire race and saying “you aren’t my preference” is inherently racist. There is no other way of looking at it.

Hi, I was watching you create a piece and, I was wondering what the importance is of using layers? I don't know if you use them, but I'm assuming you do...
yes, i do use layers! many artists have their own way of using them, but generally they’re used to make it easier to produce your artwork, and however you want to use it is a-okay as long as it helps you in your creative process :>
i’ve experimented around with different techniques in the past, from separating every single thing into it’s own layer (hair, skin, clothes, etc.) to painting everything on a single layer, but what i currently find most useful is to start out with an overall base color in the bottom layer (traditionally called an underpainting or color wash), do the sketch and lineart in a layer above, lay down the colors in a layer below that, and paint over everything afterwards. i also usually paint the background environment on it’s own layer. when the artwork gets to a good point, i merge the whole thing and fine-tune the color balance and levels. So, my layers end up looking something like this:
— paintover— sketch/lineart— base colors— environment— color wash
i find this simplifies the process a lot and makes it easier to achieve the look i want. if you use too many layers, it could become harder to make certain adjustments, like change proportions and shifting colors. since painting for me is a very fluid process, i sometimes like to experiment a little and having more layers is kind of a barrier against that.
all in all, that’s just my own process, so i encourage you to explore and find what works best for you personally XD
anyways, i hope this answers your question!
I heard someone outside of this website say “hypermasculinity” seriously. The future is bleak.
One of the first studies of hypermasculinity was conducted by Donald L. Mosher and Mark Sirkin in 1984. Mosher and Sirkin have operationally defined hypermasculinity or the “macho personality” as consisting of three variables:
callous sexual attitudes toward women
the belief that violence is manly
the experience of danger as exciting
They developed the Hypermasculinity Inventory (HMI) designed to measure the three components.[1] Research has found that hypermasculinity is associated with sexual and physical aggression towards women.[2][3] Prisoners have higher hypermasculinity scores than control groups.[4]
Do you mind not giving me sources from Wikipedia, which has been mass-edited by feminists in the recent past, making it and especially this article bull?
Anyway, I don’t care if there was a study. It hasn’t been said seriously until this website became dominated by feminists and is only being said outside of this website because of this website. That study got no media coverage during the time because it’s bullshit.
Hasn’t been said seriously before? What fucking world do you live in? Have you ever even tried to look for scholarly articles that use this concept?
Here’s one
Here’s another
And another
And another
and another
In fact, if you search for “hypermasculinity” on Google Scholar, about 8,000 articles come up from a wide variety of disciplines from the last few decades.
Your ignorance does not alter reality.
anti-feminists will seriously plug their ears and make up ANY excuse to ignore when their ignorance is called out
Cemetery of Dead Science on our floor this week!
This is awesome… though I do fear that the anti-science crowd will use this as an argument that science isn’t reliable. -sigh-
At least the tombstones explain (sorta) that they used more science (and evidence) to refine their ideas. Which is really how science works. So, all in all, a win.
