Love your designs for this SPM Deltarune AU! They look so cool! I wanted to ask if you'd be willing to share a bit more information about the plot of your AU? I hope you have a nice day! :)
I got a whole lot of ideas >:] I’m kinda just hopping around in terms of fleshing out the story, but these are the things I’ve figured out so far
Similar to Deltarune, the first dark world is also tied to/close to the main dark fountain (Castle Town). My idea so far is that chapter 1 is in a library (prologue and ch 1 in spm features ties to history/the ancients). The library is ran and owned by Merlumina (based on her 64 design). She used to have a son, who would hang out in the basement which was basically his play place while his mom worked. This kid is based on Merlow from 64. Um something something, he finds an old book that has like ancient magic or something, tries doing one of the spells, and creates contact with Shadoo, who is essentially the Gaster equivalent. She teaches him about dark worlds, and he creates one in the basement. He goes on a bunch of fun adventures and stuff. Until something happens that causes him to become a Goner, becoming a husk lost to the darkness. I’m thinking maybe his mom discovers the dark world and is upset with him, which makes him upset and leads to his disappearance. Later on Merlumina is unsure if any of that was real, but still feels like his disappearance was her fault, and refuses to go into the basement again.
In present day, Mario is heading to the library to drop off some of Luigi’s books, when he notices the windows are blacked out, but the sign still says open. He enters and is sucked into the dark world where he meets Merlon (a darkner of a history book) and Tippi (a body-less soul). Later he fights O’Chunks, who was the one who opened this fountain. At some point Merlon tells Mario to visit the basement, as that will serve as the home base. I guess Mario is able to convince Merlumina that what she saw back then was real, and that he might be able to help find her son, so she agrees to let him access the basement
Now back to Merlow. He kinda just exists in the void, until one day he is called upon by Shadoo. Shadoo is mesmerized by a newly formed darkner, one formed not from an object but a strong desire. That darkner being Dimentio, and that desire being Bleck’s desire to cause The Roaring. She is amused by him, and grants him Merlow to use as a vessel in the light world, so he may carry out his plans. Shoutout to those who picked up the clues that Dimentio was a darkner

Francis works at a game store, and one day a cloaked figure came into the shop and told him how to open a dark fountain- probably told him he’d get to live in a video game and meet his favorite anime characters or something. This cloaked figure being Dimentio, or rather the body of Merlow being controlled by Dimentio. Count Bleck said that it’s Dimentio’s turn to go open a dark fountain, but because he’s secretly a darkner he obviously can’t do that, so that’s why he seeks out someone to do it for him. Before this, Bowser enters the store to buy a game for his son, but ends up getting sucked into the dark world because Francis just couldn’t wait until the store was at least empty.
Bowser acts very similarly to ch1 Susie, not wanting to listen to rules and very much wanting to do their own thing. Bowser finds this experience freeing, being able to be rebellious and rowdy like when he was younger, something he can no longer do as he’s now a serious business man. But eventually Mario and the gang are able to get him somewhat in line after filling him in on their mission and the prophecy
Fun trivia time! When designing Francis’ dark world form, I of course scoured his wiki page for references, and in doing so learned that his interests are quite different in the Japanese version. In English he’s obsessed with series based on the X-Nauts from ttyd, probably similar to things like Star Wars and Star Trek. But in Japanese he’s obsessed with magical girls and other anime, which explains why his room has many anime like posters but nothing resembling the X-Nauts. So I tried making a design based on each version and uh. Yeah I went with the X-Naut themed one. I got nothing against men wearing dresses and cosplaying, but uh Francis just did not look good.
Ooo this is a fun one. I’m not sure exactly where this dark world takes place in yet, so far I’m thinking some sort of temple, but idk why there would be a Japanese temple in New Donk City… anyways this chapter I think would be similar to Deltarune’s Chapter 4, where we learn more about the prophecy, and some uh interesting things happen later on
The main boss for this chapter would be a rematch against Mimi and Mr L, but this time Mimi has some robotic upgrades provided by Mr L. I made a lil mock-up of the fight, and only realized afterwards that their hp would definitely be higher at this point but I didn’t want to go back and change it so just ignore that
In the fight your objective would be to destroy Mimi’s robot legs, either attacking a lot to the point you do more damage than Mr L can heal, or by acting and distracting Mr L so he can’t repair them while you mess with the legs— or something like that, I haven’t given much thought to how fight/act would change things. Once you break the robot legs, Mimi flees the fight, leaving Mr L alone. You continue the battle until you defeat him too.
Mr L has his monologue where he’s upset that he keeps losing and feels like a failure. Then he remembers something that Dimentio had told him earlier, something to do as a last ditch effort. So Mr L grabs a piece of the broken robotics, and pierces the ground, opening a dark fountain within a dark world (alt blue color version since it was that color when it happened in Deltarune ch4)
The ground cracks and crumbles beneath them, causing the heroes and Mr L to fall deeper into the darkness. I’m not sure if the chapter would end here or if it’d be similar to 6-4 where you start exploring the Underwhere and then fully explore it in chapter 7. But uh we’ll just call this Chapter 7 for now
All the heroes get separated, but Mario eventually finds Luigi, who has been snapped out of Nastasia’s mind control since this area is like, a whole ‘nother level of darkness that her powers can’t reach. They go to search for the others, but while doing so have to avoid getting detected by a Titan.
The Titan is based on Super Dimentio, with the reason why it resembles Luigi being because he was the one that summoned it or whatever. The heroes eventually reunite, and probably have to fight this thing. Similar to Deltarune Chapter 4, they can’t beat it on their own, eventually Tippi finds them and is able to scare off the Titan with the light shining from her soul or something
