Mystrade fic recs?
Ok, I’m new to the world of Mystrade, can anyone recommend me some good fics? Like what are the most famous ones? Or just some really good ones? I prefer more realistic ones that aren’t completely AU. Please, please, I would really appreciate it!!
(I’m ok with Johnlock in the background, also if there happen to be any that have Sherlolly in it would interest me.)
So far I’ve only read one, happened upon one called “At Least There's The Football” (x). (I don’t know anything about football but I really loved it, characterisation was spot-on, it must be the best fic I've ever read)
I think everyone has that one ship
That they never intended to ship. Like they were just scrolling through tags on a post about that fandom, saw a ship name and was like “oh whats that I havent heard of that”. Then hours later they realised they’re in deep and its just ohhhhhh shiiitttttttt
A week ago I had barely heard of Mystrade... Now I’m reading a fic where Mycroft meets Lestrade’s family and I think it’s adorable. I think Mystrade is my OTP now, wtf.
Unpopular opinion by anonymous: If they ever make another season, mystrade has more potential to be become canon than johnlock.
Even without my shipper goggles, I agree. It’s less controversial than Johnlock and it’s easier for the creators to throw a bone to Mystrade shippers. They could just have a scene with them on a dinner “date” in passing, most viewers wouldn't even notice but for Mystrade shippers, it would be canon enough.
Sherlock theory
The more I watch Sherlock, and the more I think about the characters and their interactions, the more I become CONVINCED that Sherlock and Molly slept together. Specifically between 3x02 and 3x03.
I’m not saying that as a fanboy or a shipper or whatever. I legitimately think they’re interactions are written to give that impression.
Why Molly and Tom suddenly split, why Molly and Sherlock’s attitudes towards each other change after 3x02, the comment about Sherlock liking her bed, why Molly suddenly features prominently in Sherlock’s mind palace, his sudden guilt over his treatment of her, the slap, the seemingly random sexual joke he makes towards her, and of course the I love you scene.
Seriously, re-watch 3x03 - 4x03 with this idea in mind. Everything just clicks.
Yes, definitely something happened. Their relationship became much more intimate. There was something more in Molly’s slap besides the fact that she was mad about the drugs - there was an entitlement about her attitude and an extra level of anger. She wasn’t just chastising him as a friend but more like a spurned lover.
I think they had a one night stand too and Sherlock did NOT handle it well. I think he most likely pulled a Houdini and probably slipped away while she was sleeping. Molly’s anger to me seemed like a message, like, “I am fucking mad at you for what you did.” Sherlock replied with his infamous line, “Sorry your engagement’s over …” but what he really meant was, “I know why you’re angry but I am definitely NOT sorry about what happened between us.” Molly returns with, “Stop it, just stop it!” which to me sounded like, “DO NOT let what we did slip out in front of everyone!”
It makes perfect sense when you think about his reaction. He let her slap him because he felt like he deserved it.
I embrace this headcanon and welcome it warmly into the family.
I’ve been thinking the same thing. Why would Sherlock imagine such tension between him and Molly in TAB? Why would Molly not want to answer his call in TFP and is rude to him? Why would Molly get so emotional so easy over the “I love You” thing so easily and why it’s so difficult and raw. And also there’s the “Have you had sex?” question by Eurus, she seemed to be the first “villain” to notice Molly. There has to be something going on that we don’t see.

My life recently! my boyfriend (of 5 years, we live together) has noticed that I read stuff in the middle of the night. Toady while driving home from a bookstore (after I bought some Oscar Wilde) he made a snarky remark about me not finding actual gay porn in an actual bookstore. He knows too much.
15 year old me: reads gay fanfics about guys in their 20s and 30s
25 year old me: reads gay fanfics about men in their 40s and 50s
It’s going to get weird soon...
Also, why do I love Mystrade so much, I didn’t plan on shipping it at all and now it’s probably my OTP, wtf.

Imagine Sherlock giving his name at Starbucks and occasionally they’ll get it right but most of the time it’s stuff like “Shirley” “Cheryl” “Sharon” and on one occasion he spent the day in a huff because they gave him a cup that just said “Shrek”
The closest anyone ever got was a cup emblazoned with the words “Sure Lock”.
There was also John’s favorite cup, a photo of which still exists on the phones of half of Scotland Yard, “Sherlcock.”
Unpopular opinion by lullikiish: I think Sherlock might be at least bi, considering Mrs. Hudson’s and the restaurant owner’s comments in the first episode, but I don’t see that type of chemistry between him and John. (I do see the chemistry in the unaired pilot.)
