The majority of the press I’ve seen for the new Fantastic Four looks so… uncomfortable?? Like they’re all just done and in pain and want to be anywhere else.

It feels very symptomatic of the TikTok era of interviewing; like the interviewers are all trying for a viral moment instead of genuine conversation or even just straight forward questions and answers.

Pedro is the only one that seems mildly amused at the whole thing and I think it’s because he’s been through the wringer recently and is choosing detached amusement over… depression?? Like Joseph just looks so miserable and I feel bad for him.

I saw one interviewer call Vanessa’s force-field face “cunty” and she was shocked and appalled and Pedro needed to reassure her that it’s a compliment. What are we doinggggggg. Like you can’t just casually say that to someone (especially a woman!!) over the age of like. twenty five? maybe? But even then.

And another interviewer had just asked ChatGPT to generate questions and didn’t even seem to have reviewed them before. So he was thrown and like “oh these aren’t very good questions dur dur dur.” Like no shit.

Where is the respect? And just human decency. You’re both at work, taking time out of your day to discuss something you supposedly both care about, and you can’t even be bothered to prepare??? At all???

It just all feels so awkward and I feel so bad for the actors, they look so tired. Someone give them some hot tea, thank them for their time and effort, and send them on their way 😭

I can officially say that the fantastic four was fantastic !!!! I adored the retro futurism style so much ! the performances were so good omggg ! I loved how unique it was for a marvel film too, I need to see it again immediately !

i never see anyone discuss arthur’s final message to the gang, and its in the least accessible place for anyone else; his journal. something so private to him, his entire perspective of events that occurred in the gang, his opinions, his loyalties, his personal life outside the gang.

the fact that he addresses mary, a woman who will never hear from him again and will never receive that message. the woman he’s loved that’s encapsulated his life, and he flips the famous ‘oh, arthur’ to ‘oh, mary’. it’s like an unreceived love letter.

imagine after john gets that satchel on the mountain to which he opens it, maybe a few months or even weeks after, and sees arthur’s worn, old journal he carried for years. he reads it slowly over a few weeks and he reaches the last entry. a message for him, a final warning. a warning to which he ignores and runs from, sealing his fate with the pinkertons.

arthur even pleads with dutch, one of his final pleas with the changed man. even bigger a gut punch when the man who raised him betrays him, walks away and leaves him to die alone. by “start listening to them”, arthur’s asking dutch to listen to him one last time.

he doesn’t.

arthur really loved him and everyone else like his family in his own way, and it’s that love and loyalty that killed him.

i see the messages as some sort of practice for what he’d say if he died whilst getting people out of camp before it all fell apart; like he was imagining he’d go. he’d maybe intented to write mary a final goodbye himself, but couldn’t find the words.

he might have expected to die facing west like he mentions, with the people he cared about, his illness leaving time for goodbyes like charles had told him, unlike people like hosea and lenny. but he doesn’t get that salvation.

actually pretty refreshing to see a superhero movie that's not afraid to take sides. none of that "we're all great people we're just misunderstood" bullshit AND clark explicitly saying "hey just because their nation isn't perfect to you or an ally to our country doesn't mean it deserves to be invaded and also, it's people don't deserve to die" was actually pretty fucking cool. the main villain wasn't some poor guy who was wronged as a child but a greedy evil billionaire that was taking advantage of a system that was already so ready to kill. personally, my favourite part was when hawgirl straight up just dropped netanyahu mid flight and immediately went back to serving cunt

Ok but like Superman having good rep for punk people that, while brief, shows the ideals of punk culture being rooted in standing up for people being persecuted and fighting against the authorities that attack them was not something I was expecting but I’m genuinely so happy about it. not so fun wicked fact i noticed while doing my music coursework

at the end of popular, glinda’s big ‘as meeeeeee’ moment is sung in the key C5

when elphaba sings ‘its meeee’ during the climax of defying gravity, it is also a C5.

the note consistently reoccurs as a grounding for her in the melody, such as when she makes big statements like quoting the wizard back to himself in ‘everyone deserves the chance to fly’

she also uses that specific note when glinda joins the ending, singing ‘i hope your happy’ (obviously a C5) in the lyric ‘me down’ (elphaba also sings a C5 here)

AND WHAT IS THE FINAL NOTE IN CYNTHIA’S ICONIC RIFF?? A C. MOTHER FUCKING. 5.

glinda is always a source of comfort for elphaba in the second half of this movie, and throughout defying gravity is just begging elphaba to stop. in order to defy gravity, she has to let go of her grounding and let glinda go.

the final c5 is what i would class as her farewell to glinda.

but as we see in act 2 or part 2, they can never truly be rid of eachother. elphaba will always return to that grounding note, even if she has to turn away while singing it

THE LAST OF US TWO SPOLIERS AHEAD

my biggest query so far for this season is what is the context of this scene? breaking down what we know so far is that

- jackson is preparing for a fight. we see jesse (who we know is a patrol leader) preparing with tommy

- tommy is shooting at what i believe to be a herd?

- he and maria have such a lovely moment, however he has blood dripping down his forehead, neither of them look particularly relived or happy.

what we could initially take from this is that this is joel’s golfing trip, and this is him and maria mourning the loss of his brother

on this point however tommy looks FAR too calm considering he is off the rails and completely numb in the game. this may be changed in a different direction for the series, but it is crucial to his plotline in the later events of the game.

since the head injury with the blood down his face is eerily too similar to his injury during joel’s death in the cabin, i believe this is foreshadowing. this may become a sense of a false victory of sorts, because jackson will clearly win this fight, setting up joel’s death sequence

therefore this will take place BEFORE joel’s death (1-2 years i’d imagine) and help build on the ellie and jackson lore we have been CRAVING.

Vi and Caitlyn? Their dynamic is ELECTRIC. You’ve got Vi, the rough-edged, fiercely loyal, scrappy brawler with a tender side that could wreck anyone emotionally, and Caitlyn, the sharp, principled, deeply empathetic enforcer with a heart of gold. The way their relationship is built on mutual respect and trust while navigating all the insane, tragic chaos around them? Literal chef's kiss. And not once do we get the tired, lazy "coming out" narrative or the "but what about the gays?" rhetoric. Their queerness isn’t the story—it’s just a beautifully natural part of who they are. And THAT is revolutionary.

And let’s not even stop there. This show handles gender like it’s been waiting for everyone else to catch up. Characters like Sevika, who could give you chills with her sheer badassery and gender-nonconforming energy, exist unapologetically without the narrative ever feeling the need to spoon-feed us explanations. It’s just there, woven seamlessly into the fabric of the world.

So many shows claim to want to "normalize" queer relationships or push the envelope, but Arcane has quietly dominated the space by just writing characters who feel authentic. Their struggles are about class, power, loyalty, trauma, not token representation or forced diversity. This show said, “We’re just going to make some of the most layered, compelling characters you’ve ever seen—and oh yeah, some of them are gay. Keep up.”

Like, the bar wasn’t just raised—it was launched into the stratosphere. What do you mean this level of representation isn’t the norm yet? Arcane said, “We’re not asking for permission to exist. We’re just existing.” And that? That is art.
