My hot take about ghosts is that they're only scary if they're mad at you. White christians are scared of dead people cause they're the ones killing them
"I'm being haunted by vengeful spirits" and why are the spirits vengeful? 🤨 victim blaming much
Me and the girls are hangin out with our ancestors they're chill as fuck maybe if all the ghosts you know have a problem with you you should look inward
People seem to like the Victoire pride logos I made, so I cleaned up the version I liked best and made it phone wallpaper size!
Me when I realize GLaDOS is likely merely a copy of Caroline's personality and the real Caroline probably is dead from the brain mapping process and GLaDOS is now a version of her living in torment forever what the fuck .
i would like to present an even worse option! where a fully-conscious version caroline is still around in the computer and GLaDOS is a copy of her with several key components removed!
(am gonna quote my own fic for a minute)
“ I lost track of how many times they copied me. Because they didn’t want me. God, no.” Caroline almost wanted to snort. “They started with a poorly-xeroxed version of me, then hacked away at the less desirable aspects. Memories, personality, whatever else they thought they could isolate and extract, they did—working backwards to try to find the least amount of “me” they could include while also getting the docile little program they wanted. They claimed it was due to data storage limitations, but I knew better.
“And then, they would go too far. Their program would become too broken, too unstable. That’s why they kept me on hand—so they could make a fresh copy every time they needed to start over. And they had to start over a lot.
“They’d try again. And again. And again—because that’s what happens when you approach digital brain surgery with a butter knife. They shielded the data storage with as many protections as possible, locking me up in my own little tower of servers. That way, no one could accidentally—or purposefully—delete that information.
“I was still around, though. I don’t know if they knew I was conscious, or if they just didn’t care. It would have saved them a lot of trouble—even their lives—if they had just put me in charge like I was supposed to be.”
reblog to tell a 14 year old that these are the very, very hard years and they're not wrong to feel the way they do.
I had a fifteen minute long crying session yesternight over the fact that all I was 10 years ago, at the ripe old age of 14, is lost and lonely, and now, at 24, I am neither and that filled me with so much gratitude
reblog to tell a teenager that these aren’t actually the best years of your life and that things can and will get better when you have independance and maybe are away from your situation right now.
Its me reblog to tell me that
one time i was making potato soup and i needed broth for it but i was out of broth. but in my dog food cabinet there was a carton of chicken broth that i had bought for my dog. now the box did say HUMAN GRADE and the ingredients were just bog standard chicken broth. it did say something about joint health for dogs on there. but the ingredients were normal. i even compared the ingredients list to some normal person broth and they were the same. so i did put dog broth in that soup and it did taste completely normal. but i did use the dog broth.
please please please please reblog if you’re a writer and have at some point felt like your writing is getting worse. I need to know if I’m the only one who’s struggling with these thoughts
this is a common phenomenon. the better you get, the more you recognize flaws. the good thing is you can strive to get better. but the bad thing is that you see nothing but flaws. you are actually getting better, but your editing/critical brain is getting tuned up and can see more things to improve. someone post the graph, I can't find it
nvm I found it myself:
"art" can mean any creative endeavor and it definitely applies to writing.
am always obsessed when someone says to a character “call off your dog” about another character.
Today I am missing my close personal friends Kenzie Lalonde and Cheryl pounder and the way they make unblinking eye contact while approximately 12 cm away from each other's faces at all times
"Do you ever dream of land?" The whale asks the tuna.
"No." Says the tuna, "Do you?"
"I have never seen it." Says the whale, "but deep in my body, I remember it."
"Why do you care," says the tuna, "if you will never see it."
"There are bones in my body built to walk through the forests and the mountains." Says the whale.
"They will disappear." Says the tuna, "one day, your body will forget the forests and the mountains."
"Maybe I don't want to forget," Says the whale, "The forests were once my home."
"I have seen the forests." Whispers the salmon, almost to itself.
"Tell me what you have seen," says the whale.
"The forests spawned me." Says the salmon. "They sent me to the ocean to grow. When I am fat with the bounty of the ocean, I will bring it home."
"Why would the forests seek the bounty of the oceans?" Asks the whale. "They have bounty of their own."
"You forget," says the salmon, "That the oceans were once their home."
Last year I finally had an excuse to illustrate this simple little Tumblr story I've had bookmarked forever for class.
I hope you like it :]
the unimaginable power of saying "huh, guess that's not for me" and moving on with your life
im still laughing at this
Games from older consoles are being made less and less available to the point so much of the industry's history could easily vanish without
Preserving classic videogames from consoles past.
I'm just gonna slide this on in here for anyone that is interested in preserving old games. They take it very seriously too, they want an archive of every single game. Like, they have lists of every game ever released for a system, and once that system gets old enough, they add it to their archive and start collecting. Their latest addition was the Xbox 360, they opened that vault up in September 2022, and proudly announced they'd finished their collection of games for it back in April.
Also, while their game archives are almost entirely complete, they've got another project of archiving the manuals that came with those games, and that is... considerably less well filled out. Their collection of Xbox 360 manuals is especially rough, they've only gotten manuals for three games. So if you've got some Xbox 360 games kicking around, and the manual's still with them, please consider scanning them and submitting them to the site!
Game preservation is important, but people rarely consider preserving the manuals as well; I really respect Vimm's Lair for being so thorough in their archival work.
I've been using Vimm's Lair for years, I have yet to see a single bad link or virus on the entire site. It's arguably the safest and most comprehensive archive of video games in existence. Preserved history
I’m not a gamer, but I am an archivist.
the problem is i really do love staying up until one billion o'clock. it just cant be helped
As of TODAY Twitch has quietly added the Generative Ai Training model into your account without your permission.
For the time being it is TOGGLEABLE and you can TURN IT OFF!
However, we do not know if Twitch will force this to be on at all times like some other platforms, like X/Twitter, have previously done.
Regardless of IF YOU STREAM OR NOT you should TURN THIS "TRAINING FOR GENERATIVE AI" SETTING OFF IMMEDIATELY!
To do so you must go to: https://www.twitch.tv/settings/security
And then scroll all the way down near the bottom.
There you'll find the "Training for Generative Ai" setting, toggle it to OFF!
Be sure to keep sending messages to Twitch that you do NOT want this to exist.
And another reminder that if you do stream on Twitch, like I do, you should start preparing you and your audiences to migrate elsewhere ASAP.
