[ID: A series of comics of two Mexican teenage girls, Marisol and Ester. Ester is short, has short, fluffy dark brown hair, and Marisol is taller and has long, straight brown hair with lighter brown streaks.
Marisol says sarcastically to Ester "Omg, that skirt is sooo cute," laughing. Ester happily says "Thanks! I'm trying a new style," and thinks to herself "Wow I can't believe someone noticed, she is so nice," while Marisol stares in confusion.
Marisol is in class talking to her friend, who says "This class is soooo boring, it makes me want to...what was the word for drilling a hole in my skull?" Marisol turns around to look at Ester and says "I bet she would know. Looks like she likes weird things." Ester says "Trepanning is the medical practice for drilling a hole into the skull." Marisol's friend says "Yes that's it! This class makes me want to trepan my skull!" Marisol turns away, glowering, while Ester stares at her and wonders "How did she know that was my special interest?"
A teacher calls "students stand up and make a line." Ester stands stiffly while Marisol stands next to her, frowning. Marisol thinks "I will stand far away," taking a step away, and smugly thinks "Now she will know I don't like her." Ester, eyes sparkling, thinks "She gave me personal space, did she notice I get overwhelmed when I'm too close to people?"
Ester says to Marisol "Hi Marisol. Do you want to go to the mall with me?" Marisol smugly says "The mall? I don't know where that is, I buy my clothes in fancier places." In the fourth panel, Marisol and her friend from earlier are in the car with Ester, Marisol's friend driving. Ester says "Thanks for driving us, Marisol doesn't know where the mall is." Marisol's friend says "So ditzy! We go there every Friday!" Marisol, in the backseat, stares.
Marisol is following Ester in the mall-- Ester is holding a bag from the bookstore, and Marisol is carrying a bag and sipping a drink with a grouchy expression, thinking "I give up."
Ester is outside a store with spooky decorations in the window, staring at them, while two other teens come out and Marisol sips her drink in the foreground. The teens whisper to each other "She uses granny clothes," "So embarrassing," and Ester hears. Marisol thinks "She probably will say she likes vintage clothes or something," but then looks over and realizes with shock that Ester is crying.
Marisol shouts "Hey you!" at the startled teens, and surrounded by a cloud of darkness, crushes her drink in one hand as she hisses "Stop right there, posers." The two teens are shocked and frightened.
Ester is coming out of the bathroom, wiping her face on her sleeve. Marisol, leaning on the wall outside the bathroom, says "Hey. Ignore them." She looks away and says awkwardly "They are just...bullies." Ester sadly says "Maybe that wasn't their intention." Marisol says "Nah they were rude A.F.," and Ester says "Oh..."
Ester says "....I can't read people's intentions." Marisol looks startled for a moment, and then looks away and thinks "Well, that explains a lot." She ruffles Ester's hair and says "That makes you an easy target," then begins walking off, saying "Help me find a new outfit."
Ester, following her and smoothing down her hair, says "C-could you help me? Not to be an easy target? You seem to understand everything really well, and you are nice to me." Marisol, flattered, says "Help you? I will have to think about it." Ester says "Ok. Think about it." Marisol, flustered, says, "Oh! Ummm I mean yes sure," thinking "She is too literal," as Ester reacts joyously.
As the two walk down the hallway of the mall together, Marisol says "Just because you bought me a frap." Ester says "Ok." Marisol says "...I'm kidding." Ester says "Oh!"
