we as butches deserve better than ideology that claims to humanize us and can only do so by stripping us of our toughness and gender nonconformity. my ‘softness’ is reserved for my partner. i dont need reminders to me let alone to other people that deep down im ‘soft’ and ‘tender’. that my butchness is just a facade, a negative stereotype thrown onto me, rather than who i am. if you are incapable of humanizing us without assigning feminine concepts to us, without ‘defanging’ us, ask yourself why. ask yourself why you think being dominated and feminized and re-conceptualized away from our masculinity is something that we want or would thank you for.
Ok so what i’m gonna say isn’t 100% related to this but this post did remind me of it. I’m a straight woman and the large majority of the time I don’t act in ways that are coded feminine. And people insist to me that that’s not my ‘natural state’ and that I’m just putting on an act for people. It’s insulting to say thee least
