Rango its a classic but I don’t think she’d criticize it because that was the whole point of the show ngl. Also I do think she got caught in a web of lies tho?🤔 it just happened only in book 1 twice once when she outed herself as poor to her classmates and the other time which put a pause in her relationship with Mini. So I just started reading The Court of The Dead (the second time I’m reading the second book in one of Rick’s series before the first, first time being The Son of Neptune. Two nickels, weird that it happened twice, I know) and when they dropped that a child of Hestia was there, two things happened:

One, I dropped my OG idea of a Hestia Cabin where the unclaimed can go. I thought it would be perfect because the Goddess of the Hearth aka Refuge aka Home (which these children are all seeking) would’ve been the perfect place for them, especially with no other children that they’re taking up space for.

But with that fact just dropped to Nico's, Will's, and my surprise (I guess Hestia swore off marriage but not cuddling with guys by one of her fires), that now puts us back to where we started. Not nearly as much as Hermes but they'd still be taking space from someone else and always feel out of place.

And Two, I got a different idea. Why not Chaos?

It works in concept because Chaos is the primordial deity from which all of Greek Mythology came from in the Theogony. A cabin for Chaos would be the perfect starting point for kids whose lives have been thrown into turmoil in so many ways. It's not just a start, it's the start of everything. Their new lives as heroes. Their adventures that the mythology they now know is real will take them on. Everything!

It also works so much better than Hermes cabin where the kids are brought to the god in charge of deliveries. It's no wonder the kids never felt at home there, they weren't campers there, they were just packages that Hermes never got a signature for!

Meanwhile, Chaos cabin would be a better symbol of unity because it's a reminder that we all came from the same beginning. Everything started with Chaos, which means everyone came from it. No one is superior or inferior, we just all stumbled into existence and that's ok. The cabin would be proof that not only is everyone in the camp equal, more importantly, they're all family.

And it's not like a demigod kid of Chaos is likely to pop up, so the campers don't have to worry about taking someone else's space. The space is theirs. I mean sure, it's not something that Riordan wouldn't pull, but it's not probable. Even if the "names have power" thing catches Chaos' attention when they hear about the cabin, Chaos is fairly neutral (at least that's the impression the Hades games gave me). All of Chaos' children are high-tier deities like Gaea, Tartarus, Eros (but maybe not here), and Nyx and Erebus. While it's not impossible that Chaos would create a demigod kid out of spite to send them to camp, it's not something I'd expect. The kids would have a space that is their own.

And the cabin would work both before and after Percy serves his big Child Support Order on the gods because the unclaimed campers are an ongoing issue and part of the process. Even if the gods are claiming more now, there are still kids at camp going left unclaimed and they need a place to stay until their godly parent claims them.

I'd imagine the Chaos Cabin would be the biggest one at the camp, not out of superiority, but because there are more unclaimed campers in one cabin than claimed which necessitates a bigger space for them. It could be a sturdy see-through but fairly opaque stone exterior to emphasize the nothingness and would have a whole space aesthetic inside. And even though things should be chaotic in there, there could be a bunch of stuff implemented there to help the kids manage the chaos in their lives like therapy activities and stuff.
