Really interesting things to say about the way people treat ilya’s bisexuality regarding him being able to “opt out” of gay oppression. like. any gay person, bisexual or gay or queer or anything else, can “opt out” simply by refusing to have same sex relations. That’s not even saying they have heterosexual sex they might just choose to not date at all. and this option is literally available to everyone. and not a special unique escape hatch available to ilya. nobody holds you at gunpoint and forces you to have gay relations even if you ARE “full” gay. but it involves a suppression of the soul and of love. suffocation! it is not an “easy” thing to choose to cut off an entire part of yourself and the implication that it is some unique “privilege” afforded to certain people is just genuinely not true.
