āYou were gay. Are you still gay there? Do you still consider yourself beautiful and gorgeous? If you donāt, please remember you are always beautiful.ā
Why is GMMTV so dead set on casting Perth as toxic asshole tsundere characters when we all know he is meant to play kind, loyal and rapidly infatuated, if a little hot-headed, roles. I'm not against a little variety but damn give it a break already.
So... Joong is never allowed to play a dour character again, okay? No more gloomy characters. He can be serious and he can be dramatic and he can smile like the sun coming out from behind the clouds all at the same time. We've figured this out, right? We've cracked the code. This man's characters have to be allowed to smile. Regularly.

Love Thupās heterochromia. 10/10 design choice for his character in my opinion, though not sure if thereās some significance to it yet!
I just love the friends so much.
No, while I'm on the TayNew train of thought:
I've been realizing recently that even new BL fans who have been around for a couple of years aren't as familiar with the old stuff as I still often assume everyone to be.
Like to be clear, it wasn't all that long ago, but back in 2021, even 2022 and before we didn't really have that many BLs to watch, so everyone watched all of them, even if we didn't really vibe with one of them.
I haven't actually counted or done the math, but I think these days the amount of Thai BLs coming out every year is nearly the same as the total amount in existence back in 2021, and 2022 had like 10 BLs and that felt like a CRAZY amount.
It used to be that we had all seen Sotus and Dark Blue Kiss and Theory of Love, but now there are fans who associate TayNew with Cherry Magic first, or KirstSingto(idk the order and idc) with Ex-Morning, and OffGun with Not Me (or maybe Burnout, Syndrome thesedays) and have never watched or sometimes EVEN HEARD OF the originals.
And that goes for more than just gmmtv. I've been thinking about this a lot since Zomvivor came out and so many of the Why R U? cast was in it.
It wasn't all that long ago, not really, but a lot of new fans don't really know who the original BL actors are, the ones who have been in it since the beginning, or nearly.
There are Perth fans who don't know that he was one of the very first (who honestly might not recognize him in Love By Chance, cause I went back to give it a rewatch and, good lord, they were all so young.)
Anyways, it's just wild to me, I suppose, how big the Thai BL industry has gotten in what's really not that long a time.
BL Actors that I have a soft spot for for very little reason:
Like these dudes arenāt the prettiest or have the best actings skills or anything like that, but somehow I still watch all their series like āomg heās DOING IT!! Go my guy!ā
(Note: I know zero things about them personally, so they could be horrid assholes in real life idk. Knowing personal details about professionals I am not acquainted with feels intrusive to me, I donāt even call celebrities by their first names normally- always First Name Last Name⦠although not with Thai names as I canāt pronounce them š So yeah, not taking that into account).
Anywho. To the list!
First up: Santa Pongsapak Udompoch
Saw him first in My Only 12 Percent which was honestly a LOVELY and very underrated show, and my brain just latched on like āaaaaw cute cinnamon roll āŗļøā
Second: Perth Tanapon Sukumpantanasan
He was ADORABLE in Love By Chance, which was one of my first BLs. Which meant I was VERY pleased when he got paired up with Santa āŗļø although they usually have him playing characters since then that are KIIIIINDA jerks š
Third: Winny Thanawin Pholcharoenrat
Saw him first in My School President which I LOVED and idk he just has a very chill vibe to most of his characters even when heās supposed to be playing a hot head which I find appealing.
Fourth: Joong Archen Aydin
Saw him first in Two Moons 2, but didnāt really vibe with him until later on. HOWEVER, this one is a little more about how I think itās HILARIOUS that he always acts like such a fanboy of his coworkers (Iāve seen behind the scenes of it! Donāt really watch other interviewsā¦) also he was my favorite in The Heartkillers which SURPRISED ME because I was watching it for First Kanaphan and Khaotung Thanawat. I wish they would give him goofy smiley rolls more tho š
Fifth: First Kanaphan Puitrakul
Okay. You got me. This one is because heās a stellar actor and seems like an overall nice dude. I like that he isnāt type casted and has range. Seems lovely.
Sixth: Bible Wichapas Sumettikul
Saw a clip of him teaching like high level math or something to his coworkers and became obsessed š also his performance in Kinnporsche and 4 Minutes was INSANE in the best way. 10/10 no notes.
Seven: Fourth Nattawat Jirochtikul
Saw him first in My School President and his character could have been SO obnoxious and tedious BUT he somehow pulled it off as ADORABLE and endearing instead āŗļø his performance in Moonlight Chicken was also very good even though the character was polar opposites.
An interesting theory I have that I certainly DONāT want to be correct (havenāt read the novel) but would be INTERESTING is if Thup WAS the killer⦠but just didnāt know it.
Hear me out.
Like heās a young man and the repeated killings happened years apart BUT what if the REAL killer was a GHOST that was possessing people to do its ritual. So Thup gets possessed, kills a bunch of people and does a ghost ritual, has a ādreamā about it (a vague memory), and goes to investigate.
Which would be INTERESTING because in that case, Thup would technically NOT be the killer (the ghost would be), BUT itās not like the police are going to believe āGhost Possessionā as an excuse for murdering seven people. š¬ Imagine how devastated and betrayed Singha would be, even if part of him was starting to believe in ghosts.
It would make for some EXCELLENT drama, BUT I am sucker for Happily Ever Afters because real life can be kind of shit, so I donāt usually prefer media that also ends with the characters having a shit time š¤·š¼āāļø
WE SHALL SEE WHAT WE SHALL SEE.
I do not appreciate iQIYIās subtitle team misgendering the transgender victim in episode two, the Thai terms the characters were using for her were gender neutral. Khun is simply a polite particle, it can mean Mr or Ms/Mrs. So the fact that the subtitles purposely had Singh and co refer to her as āMr Meenā was an actual choice on their part.
This is why I will always support Gaga more, the censorship that China is under seeps into things in ways not always noticeable. Had the series been hosted on Gaga, you damn well know that there would not have been any misgendering of the character.
So close and yet so far for both of them.
Thup found a guy who could make the ghosts go away and he immediately used those big beautiful puppy eyes and now heās living in singhaās house. Iām obsessed with him
