My colleagues and I had the opportunity to try out Squaregles and share them with the students. These have been very popular with the Students and offer alternative ways to build that some other popular magnetic construction building products do not. Give them a try if you’re looking for a new option.
Telestrations is auch a fun game. I can’t wait to play this again. This game had us in stitches laughing. And it’s family friendly so kids can play too.
We tried a new pasta from @taste_republic and sauce from @cucinaantica that we received from a opportunity with @tryazon . We were able to buy the pasta at @freshthyme where they had a few different options. We tried the cauliflower fettuccine; next time we’d like to try one of the other varieties. This sauce was so good. I definitely will buy this sauce again. 😋
Made some custom wedding shower gifts for my cousin. I’m obsessed. They turned out so good!! I’m always trying to put my cricut to use and this was the perfect summer project to make my heart happy!
Little Medical School Tryazon Party
I am so excited to tell you about Little Medical School. Thank you to LMS and Tryazon for giving me this opportunity.
I received two Little Medical School kits to review with a group of friends. The first is a veterinarian kit and the other is a pediatrician kit. What we liked about them was the real tools. I teach preschool and giving children opportunities to explore real tools is an important part of the learning process. It gives them opportunity to work out their feelings about experiences as well as removing fear about a situation such as visiting the doctor.
My favorite thing about the veterinarian kit was the flea stickers! You can place them in the fur of the stuffed dog that comes with the kit and then follow the steps Little Medical Provides to remove the fleas.
I love the thought that goes into the pediatrician kit. There is a swaddle, a diaper, a hospital band, and assessment form to help the child determine symptoms of their patient.
Children playing with the Little Medical School Kits will no doubt feel like a real medical professional. I truly believe this will encourage children to join STEM fields, especially females, when so many STEM fields are lacking females. I think these kits are gender neutral and appeal to boys and girls. I cannot wait to share more photos when my students start school and I show them and their parents!
It’s cold in Michigan but that doesn’t stop us from playing outdoors. Here are some of my littles enjoying the snow kitchen we created using plastic dishes.
Trying out the Ozobot was such a fun experience. Thank you to Tryazon and Ozobot for giving me the opportunity to try it out and review it!
Coding is all the range in schools across America. Students can’t get enough of it. I teach preschool and even my preschoolers enjoy coding. The Ozobot combines art and coding and I love it!!!
Here’s how it’s done: draw paths and codes using the four markers provided. Set the Ozobot at the start and watch it follow your code. You can code it to spin, slow down, speed up and so much more.
If your student loves art but you’re looking to give them more than you’ve got to check out the Ozobot.
These ORB odditeez are so wonderful! I use them in my classroom for a sensory opportunity and they are one of the most popular items I have in the classroom. Not only do the students love squishing them but the adults did too. They make for a great way to de stress and calm down. I offered them to a child today who was very frustrated from an older grade. When he returned them to my room, he had a giant smile. #ORBbubbleezz #ORBodditeez #OrbToys #Tryazon #sensoryplay #sensory #preschool #preschoolteacher #calm #calming #calmdown https://www.instagram.com/p/BptAKrVA4_K/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=wd37t7vezjra
Teaching teachers!!
Today my colleagues and I got to try out four STEM games thanks to an opportunity I just discovered. Tryazon allows participants to apply to host parties to try out materials. I hosted a teacher party with my peers to try out STEM games from Smartgames USA. We received Trucky 3, Penguins on ice, Quadrillion and Color Code. My two favorites being a PreK teacher are Color Code and Trucky 3. I really can’t wait to put Trucky 3 in my block area to bring in some STEM and I already have Color Code in Toys and games. The other two games are a bit more challenging and I think are a better fit for kindergarten and first grade or are better use for my room towards the end of the school year in PreK. Quadrillion even challenges me! What a mind excercise!
Please check out both Tryazon and Smartgames so you can better your classroom and education for your students. You will not regret it!
Back to School! It’s coming sooner than I thought it would. I’m so excited to go back though. Today I received the wonderful opportunity to “review” or try out Lakeshore Learning Materials paint and paper as well as some other art supplies. A small group of teachers from our program, along with their children, got together to play with Lakeshore materials. I really felt the materials were comparable and high quality like we requested. I think if Lakeshore can meet our needs on cost that it would be beneficial to our students. The plan is to order in bulk so that all classrooms get art materials whereas in the past if you couldn’t afford it on top of other costs it came out of the teachers pocket or prayed that a parent would take pity on you. But truly no parent in our program should ever have to provide materials and so I’m thankful that Lakeshore wants to help us out. If you’re looking for a way to connect to my classroom you can always help my projects on Donorschoose get some love. ❤️ https://www.donorschoose.org/we-teach/5109286
Alabama Chicken and Dilly Beans This is one of my Dinnerly meals. I loved the chicken and Alabama sauce but I had to pass on the dilly beans and corn. My husband really loved it though and I tend to be a picky eater anyways. For me the pickling ruined it, I couldn’t get over that taste (I also don’t like pickles). My husband said the beans were addicting and he also ate mine with the Alabama sauce on them. This weeks other two meals are barbecue chicken sandwiches and beef kofte wraps and I’m really looking forward to making those meals. I highly recommend Dinnerly, they don’t pay me or compensate me in anyway to write about them; I just really enjoy it. I found them on my own doing a web search for meal subscriptions. They were one of the cheaper options and they really do not skimp on quality and flavor. Each portion is $5, so for 3 meals for 2 people our box is $30 plus shipping. It really beats standing in line at the grocery store and buying junk food I don’t need. I’m also not eating food that is deep fried and paying way too much to eat out. This really is a win for me! You can skip boxes so we pick one box a month that we like 3 of the meals and make it a special date night in to cook together. 👨🍳❤️👩🍳
Teacher life got me feelin’ un poco loco What!? This shirt is so cute! I purchased it from MountainThreadStudio on Etsy. I loved the movie Coco for so many reasons. I teach Preschool to students who are English language learners and for many their first language is Spanish; I really feel like this movie is powerful for them because they can see themselves and their culture represented on screen. My nickname as a kid was Coco so that makes it my movie! And truly it was just one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. The art, the story, the music; all of it is wonderful. I totally plan to wear this shirt while doing checkpoints 😉. Teacher life does make me crazy but not in a bad way. It makes me push myself each day to better my students through spending summers at professional development, putting my paycheck back into my classroom, reaching out to community members for support, advocating for a million things that are important to education and my families and loving each child in a way only a passionate teacher can. I was looking through photos and one in particular gave me a happy smile and proud tears. It was a photo of all the students in my class one year hugging. The background of the photo was one student was struggling to write his name. We practiced and practiced and then finally he just did it and another child noticed and alerted the whole class “A wrote his name!” They all ran over for a hug and congratulations. I just can’t stress enough how wonderful children are to one another. That level of support is a reminder to me to cheer on my colleagues. The boy who wrote his name was by all means your “bully” hitting and swearing and truly scaring the other kids. I worked all year at shaping the ideas of the students and parents and that moment proved it paid off. He wasn’t the “bully” but a friend and a valued member of our class. If you would like to support me and my students consider donating or sharing my project on Donorschoose a tax-deductible organization that supports teachers. https://www.donorschoose.org/we-teach/5109286
Italian Chicken Flatbread
I’ve been so inspired by my Dinnerly box that I decided to come up with my own recipe for italian chicken flat breads. These were so delicious so, I decided to share my recipe with anyone else that wants to try it.
This recipe served 2 people, 1 flatbread each. If you plan to serve more than 2 people, you will need to adjust the recipe.
What you will need:
Vegetable or canola oil
1 large chicken breast
Flour
salt
pepper
egg
Panko bread crumbs
Dried oregano leaves
1-2 oz of Sharp white cheddar or mozzarella
Rao’s Homemade Marinara or your favorite marinara
2 slices of naan bread
Olive oil (optional)
What you will do:
Start by pounding the chicken breast using a heavy meat mallet to about a 1/2 inch thickness. Mine was so large after pounding that I decided to cut it in half.
In a zip sealed 1 gallon storage bag add 1/4 cup flour, 1/4 teaspoon of salt and a few grinds of pepper. Add the flattened chicken breast to the bag and shake well, making sure you completely cover the chicken breast.
In a medium sized bowl, wisk together 1 egg, a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper.
Removing your chicken breast from the flour bag, and place into egg mixture and dispose of excess flour. Save the zip sealed bag for later. Completely cover the chicken in the egg mixture.
In the emptied zip sealed bag, add 1/2 cup of the Panko bread crumbs, a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper and a palm full of oregano.
Remove the chicken from the egg mixture allowing excess to drip back into the bowl before placing the chicken into the zip sealed bag with the Panko. Shake to coat, pressing the Panko onto the chicken breast to ensure it sticks.
In a skillet, heat 1/4 inch of cooking oil over medium high. Add the coated chicken and cook until golden brown, flipping so that each side is crisped.
Using a basting brush, paint olive oil onto the naan and warm in a pan over the stove.
Cut chicken into strips and place onto warmed naan. Add shredded white cheddar and marinara. Fold over the naan, cut and enjoy!
I’m a chef! Or I play one on TV or something like that.
Have you heard of Dinnerly? First off, they are not paying me to talk about them I just really love it. Dinnerly is a meal subscription plan but its cheaper then all those other meal plans out there. You can get a meal box each week or you can do what I’m doing by picking one box a month to have 3 special date nights with my husband. I love it most because I don’t have the time or energy most nights after I come home from work to make a meal from scratch and this takes most of the big work away from me, the dreaded grocery shopping. So far all the meals I have made take about 30 minutes prep to plate. I’m only on my second box but I’m already screaming its praises. My favorite meals so far homemade chicken strips with green beans, beef and broccoli noodles, and grass-fed ground beef burgers with fried pickles. I love that I am not the only one cooking or that my husband is not the only one cooking but that we are spending time making the meal together. And these meals are so instagrammable.
Who is Nichole?
This is my very first blog post! I’ll start by telling you about myself. I’m Nichole, 26 years old, a preschool teacher and I’m recently married.
I have been teaching preschool for a little over 6 years. I have an associates in Child Development and a Bachelors in Child and Family Development. My students are my passion. They give me my purpose in life and drive me to do better. They are dreamers and I take their success in my classroom very seriously. I believe that every child deserves a great start for kindergarten readiness and I really strive to meet the needs of my students to get them to be successful.
I have been married for just about a year to my husband Jesse. We live in Michigan but got married in Florida at Disney! We have one dog named Rue, she is a Chihuahua and she is really my world!
I enjoy crafting and I’m starting to dabble in sewing! I have a lot of practice to go but I’ve successfully made a very simple quilt and a few other fun craft projects. I love making gifts for friends; I feel if its something they can use or want and I made it myself that it is far more special then if i bought it from a store.
I really enjoy cooking but find that during the school year I won’t do it unless it is simple and easy. I think it is so fun and empowering to make a dish from scratch! I also find it to be a fun bonding experience that my husband and I can do together.
I also love makeup and beauty products. I have far too many eye shadows and lip glosses but I really enjoy experimenting with different makeup looks.
Thanks for getting to know me and I’m sure that I will share more about myself and my interests as I continue my blog journey.
With love,
Nichole
