I still find it pretty funny that in fallout 3 you can get your karma down by just opening Moriartyâs terminal over and over again.
The slavers at paradise falls have heard of me. Iâm the guy that opens peopleâs computers over and over again without asking first.
Butch wonât be my companion. Heâs like youâre too intense. You mustâve turned on that computer like 50 times in a row last time.
My forbidden computer touching ways have caught up with me.
The reason Iâm doing this in the first place is that a lot of evil karma options in fallout 3 are just inconvenient. Like I could go out of my way to blow up a city or I could not blow up a city and get a much more convenient free house and keep access to their merchants.
So in order to keep getting the full evil karma experience, every time I do something convenient or utilitarian that raises my karma I go back to Moriartyâs Saloon and just open his terminal over and over again.
Thus, my good boy points are eliminated through repeated computer touching and the regulators here are hunting me down for looking at Moriartyâs personal data a hundred times in a row.
Whatâs really funny about lowering your karma this way is that after you do a major good Karma action and listen to the radio, the radio DJ Three Dog will be like this horrible fucker from vault 101 we all hate him so much you know that guy? He did another fucking thing. He saved a thousand orphans.
Yeah I saw the lovecraftian horrors and didnât succumb to madness. What- no Iâm not a cultist, James. For Christâs sake. What youâre forgetting my friend is that HP Lovecraft wasnât a flexible man. His brain simply wasnât stretchy enough to take it all in. I however, have short term memory issues. Flexibility is the name of the game when you canât remember if you ate lunch or not. Whatâs the size of the universe? Big. You knew that already, James. Come on now. You donât need to witness the terrifying ocean at the base of the entirety of reality itself to know that. Pass the brandy.
You must imagine the character Iâve created here wearing a suit and a monocle, by the way.
During a Eldritch Horrors based tabletop RPG my character was a young dandy who wasn't particularly interested in all this monster mystery stuff but his father (my brother's character) was a researcher who WAS very into it, so Bertie went along to make sure the old man didn't get into too much trouble. It was your average Eldritch Horrors RPG in that you don't make your characters with the expectation that they will survive for very long, both the game itself and the genre are very intent on turning your characters inside out, driving them insane, and blowing them up in no particular order.
The thing was, everything in this nightmare hellscape just seemed to keep coming up Bertie because the man was too stupid to realize what genre he was in. Every time he had to roll for a sanity check whenever he saw something crazy, the dice treated him so well that he just... didn't get it. Gee that sure is a funny costume. There's something wrong with that dog. These mean guys in stupid hats are trying to hurt that young lady, we can't have that! I had not built him this way, his intelligence stats weren't even that bad, random chance just made it so that this man was living a scooby doo adventure while everyone else was being consumed by The Horrors. The final straw was at the end of an adventure when Bertie escaped from the cultist headquarters by breaking out through the mansion's front window on a motorcycle with a hot rescued sacrificial maiden clinging to his back and leading the cultists on a merry chase through the hedge maze while the other adventurers escaped. His sanity score? HIGHER than when the adventure had begun. He had found the whole experience quite thrilling and felt very good about life in general! Bertie retired from adventuring to marry the maiden he rescued and care for his aging father and delight and bemuse his friends at the gentleman's club with stories of his 'wacky' adventures. I didn't want to risk breaking his ridiculous lucky streak.
the problem with movie remakes is that they always remake something that was already good, meaning at worst you ruin it and at best your remake is largely redundant. to make a truly good remake you need to start with source material that is absolute dogwater. ignore the pull of nostalgia. redeem the sins of moviemaking past.
this is how morbius can still win

Reblogging for the absolute brutal accuracy of this comment
And then you're like "fuck it, I'll make my own" and once you've done that you toss it into the goodwill bin to be someone else's prada or container of human teeth
And sometimes you gotta go with the container of human teeth purely out of morbid curiosity.
The container of human teeth is what I was looking for specifically. If you must know.

Can you say something about fat people that doesnât involve the phrase âtummy squishâ or any variants thereof. Quickly
I know a couple fat guys and they're good electricians
when i was a kid my Getting To Sleep technique was visualizing a child-sized shriveled up mummy with big piercing eyes that would stand silhouetted in the doorway & stare at me & probably attack if i so much as opened my eyes after getting into bed & this technique caused me to develop a lifelong nighttime-induced paranoia & it still takes me 2 hours to fall asleep. so i wouldnt recommend that
this sims 2 ad has like such deep gay energy to it. Like this feels like queer history to me
The funny thing is that it wasn't even an intentional stance taking. They just forgot to code a check to make sure characters genders "matched", resulting in that characters could get into relationships regardless of gender.
What the hell are you talking about? They didn't forget anything. A programmer for the sims 1 was a gay man who programmed gay relationships into the game and they kept adding it back, intentionally, in each game.
Actually, youâre both correct. It was an accident and a deliberate decision by one gay developer:
âDuring The Simsâs protracted development, the team had debated whether to permit same-sex relationships in the game. If this digital petri dish was to accurately model all aspects of human life, from work to play and love, it was natural that it would facilitate gay relationships. But there was also fear about how such a feature might adversely affect the game. âNo other game had facilitated same-sex relationships beforeâat least, to this extentâand some people figured that maybe we werenât the ideal ones to be first, as this was a game that E.A. really didnât want to begin with,â Barret told me. âIt felt to me like a fear thing.â After going back and forth for several months, the team finally decided to leave same-sex relationships out of the game code.
When Barrett joined the company, in October, 1998, he was unaware of the decision. A fortnight into his new job, he found himself with nothing to do when his supervisor, the gameâs lead programmer, Jamie Doornbos, took a short vacation. Jim Mackraz, Barrettâs boss, needed a task to occupy his new employee, and he handed Barrett a document that outlined how social interactions in the game would work; the underlying rules for the gameâs A.I. that would dictate how the characters would dynamically interact with one another. âHe didnât think I could handle it with Jamie off on vacation, but he figured that at least Iâd be out of his hair,â Barrett told me. âNeither he nor I realized that heâd given me an old design document to work from.â
That design document predated the decision to exclude gay relationships in the game. Its pages described a web of social interactions, in which every kind of romantic relationship was permitted. That week, Barrett confounded the expectations of his disbelieving boss. He successfully wrote the basic code for social interactions, including same-sex relationships. âIn hindsight, I probably should have questioned the design,â Barrett, who is gay, said. âBut the design felt right, so I just implemented it. Later, Will Wright stopped by my desk,â Barrett said. âHe told me that liked the social interactions, and that he was glad to see that same-sex support was back in the game.â Nobody on the team questioned Barrettâs work. âThey just pretty much ignored it,â he said. âAfter a while, everyone was just used to the design being there. It was widely expected that E.A. would just kill it, anyway.â
In early 1999, before E.A. had a chance to kill the design, Barrett was asked to create a demo of the game to be shown at E3. The demo would consist of three scenes from the game. These were to be so-called on-rails scenesânot a true, live simulation but one that was preplanned, and which would shake out the same way each time it was played, in order to show the game in its best light. One of the scenes was a wedding between two Sims characters. âI had run out of time before E3, and there were so many Sims attending the wedding that I didnât have time to put them all on rails,â Barrett said.
On the first day of the show, the gameâs producers, Kana Ryan and Chris Trottier, watched in disbelief as two of the female Sims attending the virtual wedding leaned in and began to passionately kiss. They had, during the live simulation, fallen in love. Moreover, they had chosen this moment to express their affection, in front of a live audience of assorted press.â

I identify the most with the woman who has a green velvet ribbon around her neck and keeps being like "DONT untie my neck ribbon or something really bad will happen" and then her husband unties the ribbon and her head falls off. this is extremely real to me. spent my whole life like "please don't do this thing to me or really bad stuff will happen" and everyone around me being like "that sounds fake" and doing it anyway. and then my head fell off!
