Not enough fics focus on Dick and Jason not in conjunction with their dynamics with their other siblings and itâs likeâŚThereâs so many fics that touch on Tim and Jasonâs relationship, Dick and Damianâs, Damian and Jasonâs, Dick and Timâs, etc. etc. but weâre lacking in good fics focused entirely on the two of them.
LikeâŚDick hallucinated Jason for YEARS. When he comes back, heâs this entirely different person. The happy go lucky Robin successor he wished he showed his love for before (Because letâs be so real, for all he was pissed at Bruce for what he did he didnât hate Jason) is no more, and now heâs this murdering antihero who wants Dick and his entire family dead for not killing the joker. WhichâŚIn some runs, dick DID do, partially FOR Jason.
The angst of the two of them is phenomenal. Because there the original two. They knew a Bruce that died with Jason, and had a bond entirely different than either would ever have with any of their younger brothers.
Like, imagine Dick who is the only one who has a direct line to contact Jason, because Jason has his problems with Bruce, isnât all that close to the demon brat or Steph, Cass never really asked, and Tim is Tim and thatâs a whole can of worms.
Imagine Dick resolving to finally get closer to Jason right before he dies, trying to mend their relationship, and then his brother is gone.
Imagine Jason grappling with the fact that he feels like everything he has are Dickâs sloppy seconds. Robin, his friends, his lovers, etc. etc.
Imagine Dick genuinely spiraling seeing what his baby brother is becoming knowing that he canât do anything about it. Just watching the train wreck that is Jason Todd and feeling this immense guilt because Dick is Dick and thatâs not changing
Thereâs so much fluff and angst potential between the two of them.
So much potential for young Jason and young Dick, as well as older Jason and older Dick.
Thereâs just so many untapped storylines and so much potential and I feel like itâs hard to find good fic that touch on them mainly. (Not that I donât like the dynamic of the batsiblings.)
And donât get me started on literally ANY of the batboyâs bonds with the girls
