the "rip ___ you would have loved ___" meme is inherently more fun with ancient characters. rip clytemnestra you would have loved morse code. rip theseus you would have loved the airtag. rip callisto you would have loved wearing shorts.
rip Icarus you would have loved parachutes
The Danish training ship “Georg Stage” (1934) dresses in rainbow colour, 2021
not the kind of gay ship I’m used to seeing on tumblr but cool
ship georg is an outlier but SHOULD be counted

We regret to inform you that the sunshine and friendship app is actually a children killing app.
I have been telling people for years that the company behind Pokemon Go had no-shit, for-realsies ties to the CIA and people never really took it that seriously. Anyway.

if you're having trouble sleeping the best you can do is put a bright object close to your face and look at it for at least 30 minutes. if that doesn't work you can close your eyes but make sure to think really hard about a bunch of bullshit

A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Let’s fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.
I've seen a lot of people (often while playing Legends ZA for the first time) ask why various former criminals aren't in jail or similar — and typically, I understand the sentiment even though there are in-universe explanations for why not, with said explanations varying from case to case — but the funniest character I've seen that question asked about has got to be AZ. Like, you want to arrest Gilgamesh? You want a modern jury trial for Gilgamesh from Gilgamesh?
In all seriousness, out of all the characters who used the ultimate weapon or conspired as part of a criminal organization to do so, we have two early twenty-somethings who were kids indoctrinated into the criminal cult by their parents and presumably shown leniency for that exact reason, a woman who very much did canonically take a plea deal with strict parole conditions, a guy who everyone reasonably assumed to be dead after a lot of rocks fell on him, several XY characters who aren't in the game because they either did get arrested or got the hell out of dodge to avoid getting arrested, and of course, last but not least, Gilgamesh from Gilgamesh. Like it's not Pokémon World Justice System Hyper-Realism or anything, but it doesn't break my suspension of disbelief that none of them are in prison. Because who is going to be the guy who arrests two hipsters selling cheap coffee for the same crime as Gilgamesh from Gilgamesh.
