I love when people try to make the argument that anime is just "regular Japanese media" and calling the industry fetishistic or racist or misogynistic is racist in and of itself... like first of all Japanese people don't even watch the majority of anime in the world, nor do Japanese studios produce the majority of it... it's outsourced to SK, Philippines, and China... whoa, why do you think that might be? Where have you heard these countries in relation to Japan before? Second of all even in Japan, China, SK, Thailand, etc, it's not even considered cool or even particularly normal to be really into anime the way westerners think it is over there. At best it's seen as somewhat immature/childish à la being really into marvel movies, and usually fetishistic depending on how much you watch and what you watch. Grown ass Asian adults are not sitting down to watch demon slayer. That is for 14 year olds.
