So today is World suicide prevention day. I love how social media gives us these days to promote and be "OK" with the damage and hurt that mental health and suicide can have on not only the individual but the family and friends of that individual. What about those who committed suicide yesterday? What about those who will commit suicide tomorrow? It's nice to try and pigeon hole the stigma that surround these issues into one day that just because you hash tag and show your support then sure tomorrow it can be someone else's problem. Well for me struggling with mental health issues and as a person that has tried to commit suicide a day like today does nothing for me. We need to stand up each and every day for those of us in the world who are afraid to speak up, to ask for the help they so desperately need. My struggle is a universal one and I feel more at home with those in my life who understand me. I'm not waiting on social media or others to tell me to prevent suicide today... I try and prevent my suicide each and every single day, I'd love to be able to help others, to be there for them, however as a nation we are failing those who cannot speak, those who are afraid to be judged and ostracised by their peers. So for today, tomorrow and every fucking day possible I'll fight to prevent my suicide.. The mental health battle is real... #worldsuicidepreventionday #mentalhealth365 #itsokaynottobeokay #itsoktotalk #depression #manup #talk #mentalhealthireland #bipolar #suicide #mentalhealth (at Castlemaine, Kerry, Ireland) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnjeSveBD3w/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=5w08hbc5ln4t
