I wanted to use what ‘reach’ I may have here to share the Carolina Wildlife Center’s urgent plea for donations. If they are unable to raise $75,000 to cover ongoing and future care of their wildlife patients, the center will have to close July 20th, 2026. The services provided by CWC to the community are incredibly valuable, and without them, many wild animals will suffer without the care they need.

Troy, Alexander, King Arthur, I have no fucking clue what they were putting in the water that made people want to make terrible historical epics in 2004 but I kind of wish we could go back to that era instead of franchise film after franchise film. Personally, I would much rather watch a painfully bad rendition of a historical epic than a painfully bad contemporary superhero movie. Maybe The Odyssey (2026) will put us back in the game.

It can be easy to confuse the two, but you don't actually "wish you were more disabled", you wish your disability was taken seriously and was properly accommodated and that you had access to the support and resources you need - and that desire is so valid. You deserve more. But the sad truth is that no level of disability actually guarantees a sufficient level of support. So you have to work to separate your very understandable desire for more support from the incorrect assumption that other disabled people are consistently receiving what you aren't. All of us are getting fucked over in this society, and no group of disabled people actually has it easy.

i support universal free healthcare for one simple reason: if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness you should quit your job. quitting your job is the correct response to terminal illness. but you can’t do that if your healthcare is tied to your job

listen if somebody knows that they will be dead in a years time, and you are forcing them to continue to come into work, that’s fucked up. terminally ill people should be able to quit their jobs and live their last few months to the fullest. i don’t get how that’s a controversial opinion

on a related note i think everyone has to get a lot more normal about nudity in general. specifically nudity of people you are not attracted to sexually. it’s one of those american taboos i find really frustrating. I grew up being casually nude a lot as a child, skinnydipping and playing with friends and going in saunas. Always around safe adults i trusted and friends i knew well. and now as an adult, i don’t care at all if i see someone nude. And like i will mention this to people and they’ll act like it was weird or it’s weird that i don’t give a fuck if someone i’m close to walks around the house naked when i’m around but it’s really just that nudity around someone else does not equal wanting to fuck them and in many, many, many other cultures it’s not seen as taboo at all? It’s a consent thing, of course. I’m not asking anyone to be okay with someone exposing themselves to you if that’s not what you want. but i wish people were more open to the idea of nonsexual nudity in general because it’s really not that weird to see your friend’s tits and not want to fuck them. its literally normal
