I sincerely apologize for spamming you all with the Hamilton fanfic controversy, but it’s really giving me so much strength. It’s been a while since we’ve had the kind of scandal that only Tumblr can provide (like the person who robbed graves; the person who mailed their toe to another person so they could make a necklace of it; etc). This scandal is just so fucking good, you know? White American college girl pretends to be a nonbinary Chinese-Pakistani Muslim human-trafficking survivor AND their American WOC wife and they live in India??? And they suffered a miscarriage? And they both have HIV? All so she can scam people out of money and amass kudos on Archive of Our Own for her Hamilton HIV fanfic? And she does this for YEARS? And the person who uncovered it is doing it for revenge because the fake-HIV-fanfic writer made them delete a fanfic about Lin-Manuel Miranda and Thomas Jefferson as cannibal mermaids performing oral sex and unironically accused them of gentrifying cannibalism??? I mean, this shit is fucking gold.

jumping off of the NEVERENDING aaron discourse – as someone who neither likes aaron nor hates him – I do think it’s interesting how often aaron and neil’s conversation at the cabin is brought up in a ‘how could aaron imply something so horrible about neil’ sort of way despite the fact that even neil (who can’t stand aaron) could tell after a moment that aaron had an ulterior motive and was trying to gauge his reaction, and wasn’t being an asshole just for the sake of it.

I don’t really ever see anyone bring up the time when, immediately after wymack, andrew and neil get back to the cousins’ house after leaving the hospital following the drake incident when betsy is there and andrew’s not happy about it. so he says neil can talk to her, to which neil obviously says no, and andrew says, “where’s your sense of responsibility?”, and neil swallows down his guilt and replies, “where’s yours?”

they’re talking about andrew’s assault here, and about the blame that can partially be assigned to neil as he’s the reason andrew was there in the first place, but it’s still a horrific thing to have pointed out so bluntly when he obviously had no way of knowing anything like that would happen. and neil throws it right back at andrew; if he’d come forward and pointed a finger at drake years ago, maybe no other kids would have ended up in cass’s care where drake could get to them. again, a horrible thing to throw in someone’s face.

let’s not pretend that any of these characters are afraid to fling ugly words and implications at each other. why do andrew and neil get a free pass but not aaron? 

like, hate who you wanna hate, I don’t care. if you hate aaron (or anyone else) you really don’t need to explain why, he’s a fictional character and it really, really doesn’t matter. but I do feel like there’s a lot of wilful overlooking of other characters’ behaviours and an unfair focus on aaron’s assholery in particular. most of the characters are assholes lol.
