Shouto's B-Day Event
"Oh, right... it's my birthday..." He nearly forgot. Again.
OOC: Sorry I've been gone for so long. Feel free to send him gifts and birthday messages! I'll reply to them ASAP.
Shouto wasn't sure what to make of whatever was going on in front of him. He had noticed this "Do" person hang around his old man more and more lately, but he had been too busy with school and internships to bother asking about the nature of their relationship. He wasn't stupid. He knew something was going on.
Though, given how busy he and his dad were, he figured that if his old man wanted to tell him something, he would. So, when he was called to the previous estate, he came without much fuss.
He stood in front of them with a neutral expression on his face. "So, what did you want to talk to me about?"
@drengar
@ofxicexandxfire liked for a starter
" Shoutooo! " As always, the boomin loud voice of Todoroki's father was the first to announce his coming. Usually couldn't visit UA all that frequently due to safety concerns but unfortunately if your father is a top 10 hero, that is a different story! He will burst right into your lunch break! " I don't have much time, I am here on business. How are your classes going? "
Shouto, who was prone to wearing a blank expression, went entirely stiff when he heard his old man's booming voice. Why the hell was his dad at U.A. at this time of day? Wasn't he supposed to be on patrol during school hours?
He had been walking alongside Midoriya and quickly told him to go on ahead to the cafeteria so that he could deal with his father.
"....I was on my way to the cafeteria for lunch period," he informed his old man. "Did you need something?"
Even if their relationship had improved in the past few months, he still wasn't used to his dad doting on him like this. It was unnerving.
"'ex-enemy' means 'rival', dumbass." Ignore that in some situations, 'rival' and 'enemy' would be the same thing. Though, Katsuki wasn't gonna comment about the damn nerd's translation -- he figured that the dual quirked user just fucked it up.
"What you're thinking about is 'ex-rival'." However, it should be noted that he's not correcting the other at the moment about them being friends or not.
"I see..." Shouto looked as if he was deep in thought now. "I remember you also called me your ex-rival before too, so does that mean we're friends?"
Unprompted Ask (always accepting) || @ofxicexandxfire said:
"You remind me of a grumpy cat."
"Hah?!"
"I AIN'T LIKE A FUCKIN' CAT, HALF AND HALF!" Just ignore that he's currently angrily glaring at the dual quirked user like 'grumpy cat' right now.
"Now you look even more like a grumpy cat..." Shouto brought out his phone and pulled up a grumpy cat meme that Kaminari had shared with him. He then turned it around so Bakugou could see it. "I see no difference."
"Who gave cats the right to look so cute?"
"Hah?! The fuckin' hell do ya think, Half 'n' Half?! Of course, we ain't friends." Katsuki says that but Todoroki was one of a few people that blond actually trusted. Though, it wasn't like the blond would say that out loud to the dual Quirked user.
"I know you called me your 'ex-enemy' before, but doesn't that mean the same thing as a friend?" Shouto gave a brief pause before adding, "That's what Midoriya told me it meant in 'Kacchan' speak."
"I'm not, I promise, Todoroki-kun." Izuku stated, once again referring to the other by his last name instead of the nickname.
"We've all just been busy..." a brief pause, "...since I got back to U.A.... th--that's all it is." Well, that was a part lie. They all have been busy but it wasn't like they were busy for the full 24 hours of a day.
Izuku really hoped that was a good enough answer for his friend crush and that he would melt ice keeping him in place. The letter was already painful enough for him to write and leave for the other.
Shouto frowned deeply. Even Bakugou had pointed out the obvious to him. Izuku had been avoiding both of them, but especially Shouto.
He lowered his head, feeling his hands bunch into fists. "I don't know how much more I can take," he murmured quietly. "I watch you, Bakugou, and my old man nearly die... Dabi turns out to be my older brother who exposed my family's private lives to the public... then you run away with my old man after confessing your feelings to me in a letter..."
"I couldn't even know if either of you were still alive while you were gone. If Bakugou hadn't been so insistent, we wouldn't have gotten permission to search for you..."
"Are you taking back what you wrote me in that letter?" he then demanded, now outright glaring at his best friend. "Does confessing your love to me mean nothing to you now?!"
His eyes were starting to burn. Unbeknownst to him, the building torrent of emotions caused his left side to flare up. Small whisps of fire ebbed from his hair. The surge in heat was also enough to melt the ice around Izuku's feet.
"My family expects me to fight Touya-nii to save them. My mom even called me my family's 'hero'." He shook his head. "I don't feel much like anything right now. I thought that maybe after you came back, I could make more sense of everything, but I feel like even more of a mess!"
"So if you wanna take back what you said in that letter, at least have the decency to tell me to my face instead of hide from me!"
It had been a few days now since his classmates brought him back to U.A. And despite Izuku now being in a safe environment -- surrounded by friends, family, and teachers -- he hadn't deactivated Danger Sense. The Quirk had been 'on' for so long now, as it was a great asset for him while he was off try to find All For One and Shigaraki, that Izuku honestly forgot to 'turn it off'.
As he walking from the kitchen, a water bottle in hand, Izuku had seen Todoroki out of the corner of his eye and he mentally panicked. Hearing the other call him had only made the green haired teen attempt to quicken his speed. He didn't want to run but he definitely sped up his walking a bit more.
However, the moment Izuku felt the temperature in the room drop -- followed by him unable to continue moving. Green eyes cast down to see the ice as he immediately wondered why Danger Sense hadn't 'warned' him about this 'trouble'. As he knew from the vestige realm that the fifth's 'attacks' on the fourth would still trigger the Quirk to respond to help the fourth dodge the punches.
Though, before Izuku could even question it further, he heard his friend and crush call him by his name and making all thoughts about Danger Sense not triggering go away. As he looked up in time to see that Todoroki was closing the distance between them.
"I-- I'm not avoiding you, Todoroki-kun."
That was a blatant lie. Anyone who was around them, and paying attention, could easily see that was exactly what he was doing for the last two days.
Though, for as bad as he was with being able to lie, Izuku was purposefully choosing to avoid using the nickname that he had used in the letter that he left for his friend.
Shouto just gave Izuku a flat stare. He wasn't buying it for a second. "...You're not being very convincing," he bluntly replied. He noticed that Izuku had gone back to using his last name and somehow felt saddened by it. He rather liked the nickname his friend had given him.
Now that he had Izuku stuck in place, he demanded, "Why are you avoiding me?"
He approached Kaminari with the same blank expression he usually wore. Though, if his classmate looked close enough, he would notice the curiosity burning in his gaze.
"Kaminari," he called out. "I need to ask you something."
@electrichus
Anonymous asked: "Now I’m curious Shoto, why do you like soba so much? Is it the flavor? Texture?"
"Yes." The response as simple enough.
"I love everything about soba." There was a pause. "...I'm not sure why I like eating it aside from it tasting good."
It was the night that Midoriya had returned to U.A. While Shouto felt great relief that his best friend had been convinced to come back, he still found himself unable to sleep. There were still many issues the class had to deal with and it made it near impossible to relax.
After a few hours of tossing back and forth in his bed, Shouto decided to give up on sleep. He decided to sneak his way downstairs into the common area to see if Midoriya had gone to bed yet.
Unsurprisingly, his best friend was still knocked out cold. Judging by the bags under the other teen's eyes, everyone could tell that he was exhausted.
He ventured closer to the couch where Midoriya was still resting. Should he wake him up? Maybe he could carry his friend to his room?
@bunnybolt
Shouto was conflicted.
Ever since Izuku had returned from his mission with Endeavor, Shouto wasn't sure how to approach his best friend. Along with the emotions of relief and happiness were also feelings of betrayal, anger, and sadness. It didn't help that there was the added complication of love tossed into the mix. While he had destroyed the letter of Izuku confessing his feelings to him, he never forgot what was written there.
He replayed the words in his head over and over ever since he read those words.
"I love you, Shocchan!"
Though, once he found the bravery to confront Izuku, he quickly found that the other had found every excuse in the world to avoid talking to him. It was training, needing to speak to Bakugou or All Might, or out right slipping away whenever Shouto dropped his guard. In addition to that, Shouto's family kept him plenty busy ever since they all moved into U.A.
After two days of the cat and mouse game, Shouto spotted Izuku leaving the kitchen. He called out to him immediately and when his friend had continued walking forward, the other teen had finally had enough.
Narrowing his eyes at the back of Izuku's head, Shouto gave a pointed step forward with his right leg. The temperature in the room dropped drastically before a line of ice shot forward and locked his best friend's feet to the carpet.
"Izuku--" he said again with added weight in his voice. "I know what you're doing." He began to close the distance between them. "Stop avoiding me." He was sure that saying his friend's first name would catch his attention.
@oncforallxbroccoli
"Bakugou, are we friends now?"
@ignitionxbomb
"Kaminari--" Shouto approached his classmate with a questioning look. "Do you think that if we were both in the kitchen at the same time, Bakugou would implode?"
@pikanari
'They're both fuckin' dumbasses..' He thought to himself.
"Bakugou." Shouto approached him, looking rather troubled. "...How do you know if you have romantic feelings for someone?"
