I can't do this anymore
Actually, putting that apple tree in the bookshop is insane symbolically. It’s right there. You could eat the apple. You could choose knowledge. You could defy God. You could exercise free-will.
You could choose any of those empty books and write “God and Satan die. The universe never ended, but heaven and hell and cosmic meddling stop.” Or “God and Satan die. A new universe is born, devoid of hellish or heavenly influence or any divine plan. Crowley and Aziraphale live happily ever after in this new universe that gets a new chance, alongside humanity, together.”
Or you could just opt out and die.
My thoughts on GO3 (spoilers)!
It's me trying to understand what I feel, actually.
First of all, I want to say that I'm a huge fan of Terry Pratchett's books, and I've read all of them (more than once too).
But I also care deeply for Crowley and Aziraphale happiness and this is where I feel conflicted.
Let's start from the beginning! Good Omens the book and S1 were perfect to me. I loved all the characters, all the intricate crossings of their paths, the humor and heartbreak of it all.
And I loved the idea of a very kind demon, who was really trying to understand God's plan and who cared so much for humanity and their free will. Crowley was basically the character I always associated myself with, because I have a strong sense of injustice and I'm so curious about how the Universe works.
That's why, when I ask myself what I would do in his place in the finale, I can't find another way.
This is what he always wanted, this is why he risked his existence so many times, opposing Heaven, Hell, and God themselves.
And if his eternal life was the price for freedom for all humankind, he would never hesitate to pay it.
But there is also Aziraphale. I don't always get him as well as I do Crowley, but what I understand about him is that he can't put his own happiness before the suffering of humanity. Through history, we see him do quite reckless things trying to help humans: he gave up his sword and lied to God in the Garden of Eden, he was ready to die by Crowley's side facing Satan in the book, and he gave up an opportunity to stay on Earth with Crowley for a chance to alter the Second Coming.
Yes, both of them loved each other so much, there are no questions here. They had so much to lose and decided to trade it for a better chance for humanity anyway.
That's where it gets complicated for me. Part of me completely understands their decision and everything that led up to it.
Another part is devastated, because Crowley and Aziraphale, as we knew them, ceased to exist.
All their memories, 6000 years of slow dancing, all these tender unspoken moments... they didn't get a chance to live happily ever after. But in a way, they did. And if I understand the implication of the final part, they probably had thousands of chances.
In every universe, in every reality, they found each other, because if there is a power that can change the laws of Creation, it's love.
And they had enough of it to fill up hundreds of lifetimes.
So when I saw Asa and Anthony, I had no doubts that it's them. Finally being able to love openly, free of the shadows of Heaven and Hell. For me, it's a very Terry Pratchett ending for their story.
I wish, of course, that he would have been able to finish it properly, with his unique humor and magical touch.
I've tried to ignore all the technical/budget/pacing troubles I noticed, because the reason why it is so is pretty obvious :c
But I don't want to overshadow all the work and love of the team that made this finale real under impossible conditions. It was a miracle anyway, and I'm so grateful to everyone who worked on it ❤️🔥
I am open for discussion. What do you think?
we don’t talk enough about how the final years of crowley’s life absolutely sucked. he was sleeping in an alley near aziraphale’s bookshop because he couldn’t bear to leave whickber street, his supply of miracles were switched off, he was depressed and had a drinking and gambling addiction, his beloved car was essentially stolen just so he could protect the bookshop, the love of his life left him and only came back when he needed his help and ADMITTED just as much to him and to make matters even worse, they only got to spend a day together before he was erased from existence entirely. anthony j crowley you deserved better.
I'll wait for you | Good Omens 3

some comms work from 2023 :)
One day, maybe in the final days of their human life, Asa and Anthony feel complied to pick up that snowglobe thing that has been on their mantelpiece for the last twenty years, gathering dust.
He doesn't know why, but today, Asa feels like turning it upside down, and watch the snow fall on that red bookshop front.
And then, just like that, just with a blink of his eyes, eons of memories come back. He turns to his husband.
"Oh," he says. "Crowley..."
"Hello, angel."
I do love that Jesus rolls up to Whickber Street like “hey have you seen an immortal with funny eyes?” and without missing a beat Mutt’s Spouse is just like “oh our resident unhoused eldritch horror with unresolved trauma and substance abuse issues? yeah he’s right down there, can’t miss him.”
hi we are on the post apocalypse bus together can we hold hands
magician’s rage
Reenactor throws a spear at a drone
What a time to be alive.
“The medieval warrior, realizing the consequences of his impulsive act, immediately approached the owner of the drone and offered to pay for the damage.
The owner of the drone was so impressed by the brilliant attack that he suggested organizing a competition for bringing down “dragons” with short spears next year.
Drone owners have another year to develop a unique “dragon-like” design for their flying machines.” (x)
I am 100% cooler with this knowing that the spear-thrower realized “oops maybe I shouldn’t have done that” and tried to make it right, and that the guy who the drone belonged to was cool with it
just so everyone knows, this has already been memorialized in a runestone
Everything about this post blesses those involved with a +4 on their next Today is Good Day roll
a rough translation of inscription on the runestone:
On the seventh day of May in the year of 2016 on hither spot the mighty warrior Ulf hath slain a dragon with his spear.
so yeah, happy birthday to this dragon-slaying event and to it only
Happy Ulf Hath Slain A Dragon With His Spear!

virgil being aware of an inside joke between janus and remus and HATING that he knows it. i. i thhink im gonna have oragn failure.
personally i think there should have been at least one episode where sokka collects aang and zuko and is like, “looks like we’re running low on supplies. time for a GUYS-ONLY field trip. three days of hunting and fishing and polishing our swords. y’know, manly warrior stuff. (aang, sotto voce: actually sokka i’m a vegetarian as you know–) you girls have fun sitting around braiding your hair and talking about your crushes” and then the entire episode is just zuko and sokka lying around by a river, plucking blades of grass and staring up at the stars confiding in each other their deepest feelings and most secret insecurities while aang braids flower crowns, and whenever the screen cuts back to katara and toph and suki, they’re fighting and screaming and hacking away at river pirates and evil spirits and legions of assassins and hired mercenaries with swords. you know, as girls do.
and when the boys finally drag themselves back to camp (they stayed up way too late discussing what true leadership really means and whether or not power always corrupts) they find suki and toph and katara lounging around with black eyes and fresh bruises and bloodstained weapons and sokka shrieks, “what were you guys DOING while we were gone???” and karata just shugs innocently and says in her sweetest voice, “oh, you know. just girly things”
they are absolutely still wearing the crowns and they don’t have a single fish to show for their efforts
i did it
They secretly all knew it would go this way
oooouughggh I have a really bad headache I need to look at my screen more it's the only thing that soothes me
