After taking a deep breath, you confidently nodded.
Columbina quietly stared at you for a moment, the gears slowly turning in her head.
You both had quite the silent friendship, often spending your time together stargazing or talking about your dreams, but today felt a bit uneasy.
Maybe it was because you were confident that this is where you would be leaving for good.
You thought long and hard about it for a while, but you wanted to see other worlds and experience new things. You’ve been in Teyvat for a while and you would say you overstayed your welcome, so leaving was quite appealing,
But the only thing that was holding you back was Columbina, the previous Third Fatui Harbinger and former Moon Goddess.
Since she had left the Fatui and you had stumbled upon her hideout, you two eventually grew close since you had no where to go yourself and was worried about the woman being in such a lonely space by herself.
So, that’s the story of you two, but now it was about to come to an end.
“Very well. When will you return?”
You bitterly smiled as you looked down at your feet.
“Probably never. You know how strong security is when leaving or entering Teyvat. I’m sorry, but… I can’t make any promises, Columbina.”
Columbina silently stared at you for a moment before she slowly began to make her way over to you.
you knew she had always been calm, but not like this. Was it selfish of you to expect some sort of reaction..?
“Even if you can’t guarantee me a promise, I’ll still always be waiting, because you were the only one who treated me with such care and love.”
She then reached out and began to gently caress your cheek.
You felt like she was engraving every small detail on your face into her mind as she gently squished your left cheek.
And before she walked away to hum an alluring lullaby, she placed a small and gentle kiss on your lips.
“Tch! This is unacceptable!”
“Dottore. You’re making that face I hate again.”
He immediately gritted his teeth, growing more and more irritated by the second.
“I don’t want to hear another word! What is all this nonsense about you leaving? Surely you’re just traveling to the next nation over, right? You’re not leaving Teyvat??”
Your eyes softened as you avoided the Doctors intense gaze.
After a long pause, Dottore suddenly smacked some potions off his desk, causing the glass tubes to shatter as he let out an irritated sigh.
You didn’t flinch. Not in the slightest.
You knew he would never physically hurt you, no matter how hurtful his words could be sometimes.
Taking a deep breath, you watched as the Doctor began to pace around his lab, grumbling under his breath.
To be truthful, you didn’t want to stay here forever, no matter how fond you had grown for the Doctor.
You wanted to see the worlds beyond the stars and experience more interesting problems to solve.
You wanted to gain your spark as a traveler again!
You didn’t want to stay here. - Not in the Fatui or Teyvat.
You were startled when Dottore suddenly snapped his fingers, making some of his clones appear.
Some looked gloomy and upset while others looked enraged.
“Get to work! I expect you all to work on a mechanic that could track and communicate beyond the stars!!”
You watched in surprise as all the clones immediately got to work, turning on machines and mixing potions.
He suddenly flicked your forehead, causing you to yelp as he leaned in close.
“You must take me for a fool if you think I’m going to let you go so easily.”
“Nahida and the traveler told me you were leaving. Tch, is that really true?”
You jumped in place, shocked to see the person you had been avoiding all day.
There stood Wanderer in the corner of your room with his arms crossed, wearing a look of disapproval.
Truthfully, you weren’t ready to speak to him yet, but now it seems there was no avoiding it.
After a moment, you looked down at your feet and shakily nodded.
“Yeah… I’m supposed to leave in my space ship tomorrow night.”
“And you didn’t plan on telling me??”
You immediately shook your head as you took a step forward.
“I was! I just… didn’t know how to break the news to you. Especially after everything that happened in your past…I didn’t want you to think I was betraying you in any sort of way.”
Seeing Wanderer remain silent, you decided to continue.
“But just because I didn’t tell you right away doesn’t mean I don’t care! If anything, it means I care so much to the point I feel sick whenever I think about leaving..”
His hands fell to his sides as his glare softened.
“Then why are you leaving? Did something happen?”
You weakly smiled as your gaze softened.
“Sort of. I just realized… that I don’t belong here, or anywhere here on Teyvat for that matter…”
Walking over to the person you treasured so much, you suddenly pulled him in for a hug.
He didn’t pull away. In fact, he grumpily leaned into it, feeling his emotions slowly take over.
“You’ve found your home, and now… It’s time to find mine.”
“Ah, I see. The wind told me I would be receiving some unexpected news today.”
You nervously nodded as you looked to the side and sweatdropped.
Kazuha was sitting on top of a huge rock, enjoying the wind gently blow on his face.
Just moments ago, he was reversing Haikus to you, but before you could get caught up in the peaceful moment, you had suddenly blurted out your plans without even thinking.
And now… you felt guilty.
“I should be leaving next week if things go well.”
Your eyes were tightly shut closed, praying you hadn’t made some sort of mistake, but when you had finally gained the courage to open your eyes to peak at your lover, you were shocked to see him looking down at you so lovingly and affectionately.
He didn’t seem surprised or angered with you. In fact he was looking at you as if you had proposed!
Jumping down from the rock, he walked over and suddenly pulled you in for a gentle hug.
Thinking he had accepted your plans on leaving, you hugged him back, feeling relief fill your senses, but before you could pull away, he suddenly whispered lovingly into your ear.
“Alright. When should I start packing?”
”Oh! So what world do you plan on visiting next?”
You weakly shrugged with a small smile on your face, slightly drunk from the few drinks you had moments ago.
You had told Venti the news and unexpectedly, he had taken it quite well!
“Hm… probably a world with lots of water!”
“Really? After you spend so much time in the anemo region?~”
He playfully nudged your shoulder, causing you to giggle.
“Ugh, no you’re not! If anything, it’s sounds like you’re way happier than I am! Are you that desperate to see me off?”
You playfully rolled your eyes.
Venti grinned as he popped open a new glass of dandelion wine and took a sip.
Surprisingly, he finished the whole thing in only a few gulps, causing you to look at him worriedly, but he only grinned, as if telling you he was fine.
“Y/n, you should get some rest! You leave tomorrow, right?”
You smiled and slowly nodded as you leaned your back on the large tree in Windrise.
As you closed your eyes, you couldn’t help but replay some fond memories in your head. It was hard not to think of some fun moments. After all, this was the first region you’ve ever visited and arrived in Teyvat.
It was called your home, but you didn’t exactly “belong” there and Venti knew that, so he knew it would be best to just let you go.
- Even if he got hurt in the process…
As you quickly fell asleep, Venti looked down at the empty glass of wine and let it fall to the ground as he let out a shaky sigh.
“Y/n. It’s strange, but I feel like I’m mourning you as if you’re already dead. Strange, isn’t it…?”
Feeling his vision blur, Venti couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh.
Feeling woozy from the alcohol, he tried his best to get a closer look at your face before you would eventually be gone for good.
He wanted to spend as much time with you, his bestest drinking buddy, but in a mere 24 hours, you would be gone.
Brushing some hair away from your face, his gaze softened.
“May the wind always guide you…”
