i think one of the reasons the les mis fandom was hilariously messy because the main ship that everyone wanted to draw fanart of was a guy who is canonically described as breathtakingly angelically gorgeous, and a guy who is canonically described as absolutely horrendous to behold. extremely entertaining way to give a bunch of like sixteen year old fanartists a crash course in various types of prejudice and unconscious bias
