cake is such an underappreciated band. i can’t believe we brought back low rise flare jeans before we brought back cake in the top 40
i’m just saying cake’s music would be widely regarded as so sexy if it wasn’t for all the mariachi horns and vibraslap and the vocalist didn’t always sound like he was explaining his suicide plans to a gun store clerk in sacramento. the world wasn’t ready for them
The fact that it sounds like a dispassionate reading of a terrorist manifesto is a feature

"we detected a mature post" yeah I'm in my 30s
Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY
moon day is 20th July!!!
Scheduling this a day earlier to remind you all and myself about the Moon Day tomorow!
Happy moon day to all who celebrate
This is your reminder to prep for Moon Day on July 20th.
"i would kill for you" "i would die for you" okay but would you forgive me if i forgot something important for the 51204th time in a row even though i tried my best to remember
hurtful
Not the point in the slightest but are cigarette ads not illegal in the USA❔❔❔For some reason that one is blowing my mind
Only as of 1999. The original, unedited version of this cartoon, by Clay Butler, was published in 1996, and looks like this:
Someone went to a lot of effort to not only remove the cartoonist's credits, but also make the joke weaker. In the original, the graffiti is a lone and comparatively small, unremarkable tag in single-line monochrome. It contrasts with the billboards and signs by being unobtrusive, making it all the more absurd that the pig notices it with such vitriol. The edited version loses the impact by making it stand out in bright color and cover the whole of the wall.
I would argue that the person who edited was not diminishing the joke but rather challenging the context. Sure, graffiti tags can be small and unobtrusive, but even when they're not; even when it covers lots of space and is brightly colored and extremely obvious. Actually, especially then, graffiti is art.
The advertisements are boring, monochrome, adding nothing to the environment; they serve as distractions with no real value. Simply there to disrupt your brain, to attempt to influence you in the most mundane ways possible, whereas the colorful graffiti is adding to the environment, making it prettier, more visually interesting, more dynamic.
The graffiti being made colorful is the point. The person is looking at the only aesthetically interesting thing in the entire image and saying it's the thing that needs to be destroyed
i think they should let me in abandoned buildings
you know those studies showing that cursing helps with pain tolerance or whatever. that’s how i feel about making my weird little noises to get through my basic daily activities. sometimes you just have to go hggblaaaah for a minute so you can find the strength within yourself to get up or wash the dishes or send an email. mmmnneh. urgh. the torments are unending but you can always make some little sounds about it.
Any day now
people have suddenly started reblogging this post of mine from february 8th, 2012. great bit everybody

people should be allowed to have low ambition, and also be able to feed a family on the salary of a cashier at a convenience store.
if a job of some kind is necessary -and though it’s not like being, say, a garbage man, it makes sense for clerks of some kind to continue to exist- then the person doing that job shouldn’t make poverty wages. the idea that some jobs are just worth underpaying in general is wrong, because it creates a chronically mistreated and undervalued group of people who are nonetheless keeping society functioning with their work.
