teamwork makes the dream work. and dreamwork. makes shrek
fantastic. i love it. i posted this after my wife said it yesterday and as i was doing it i was like "this can't be an original thought. as soon as i hit post someone's going to say 'you stole this from a tweet from 2014' and i'll say 'no, i stole it from my beautiful wife.'"
Im enjoying the longevity of tumblrs recontextualization style of humor. a seemingly innocuous post followed by like "posts that a gnome would make" or like "are you a phone"
More from the notes:
I love this post
The horse thinks as it scratches an itch
thinking abt how fucked up steam engine boiler explosions can look. theyre just pipes under there
gives me the idea of a ghost/monster engine that looks normal, albeit a bit battered, only to swing their smokebox door open and a myriad of pipes come bursting out like fucked up tentacles
I didnât know a train could be an eldritch horror, but here we are.
The Call of C'thchoochoo.
if you've ever pet more than a few dogs you'd Know what dog residue is
The more Leverage I watch, the more I feel like itâs fanfiction of some alternate Leverage show. Like someone was like, âI love this show and these characters so much, and I need a college AU and a music star AU and an Office crossover and I want them to solve a mystery at a murder mystery party on a spooky island and and andâŠâ I love it so.
Leverage is fanfiction of every heist and action trope written by people who deeply love the genre (and who are even more deeply pissed off by current events.) And thatâs why itâs perfect.

Thats why you should watch the whole thing!!!
"Oh yeah, we have an outdoor Corgi, he just gets so bored cooped up inside all day. He knows to stay off the road. Don't worry, he's way too smart for coyotes and the neighbor's know to look out when they drive past."
"Us? Oh, of *course* our Dachshund sleeps inside- we just let him out in the morning and make sure he comes back for dinner. He just does his own thing, no worries."
"Um, you know it's not humane to keep a chihuahua confined to an apartment? They're dogs, they're natural predators. They need to experience hunting behaviors or they get depressed. No we don't leash ours, he absolutely hates it, we just let him come and go whenever."
Yall get how fucking stupid that sounds, right? So stop letting your goddamn cats get eaten and attacked and infected and hit by cars
A toddler would probably love full unattended access to the neighborhood too, but we don't do that either, do we
It's 2026, "keep your damn pet in a house or in your view" should not be controversial
I had to go on a hunt for this but it was worth it. 100% agree
this is the best tag Iâve ever gotten in my notifs actually
its 2026 i cannot handle any more fucking "author A obviously ripped off author B" discourse by people Who Have Only Seen the work of author B and admit themselves that they have no further knowledge of the literary landscape they are moving in. like.
free use? *smirks snartly* so naive. you know nothing in this damned society is really free...
can't look up what snartly means because i don't have a dictionary account
I just saw a video title on YouTube that said something like âWhy is glass transparent?â And thatâs an interesting question and Iâm sure itâs great that the video exists but my first thought was like âBecause glass is terrible, obviously.â Because itâs unwieldy and letâs out warmth and needs to be heated to hundreds of degrees to be shaped and turns into hundreds of tiny daggers if you drop it. Why the hell would we bother with that if it didnât have some magical quality like being totally transparent despite being solid? Glass is transparent because if it werenât, weâd use something else.
looking through my âmeâ tag and this is apparently what I was thinking 3 years ago
If youâre still curious we did not start working glass for its transparency. It was most likely started as a sanitary concern. Glass is easy to clean with soap and water, once itâs cleaned out you can use it again for anything and no germs or flavor from the previous meal or drink will remain.
Other materials at the time, namely clay, would absorb flavors and germs meaning that if you ate beef off a clay plate your next meal with that plate could have beef flavor and microbes common on cow meat on it. That would leak out seemingly at random no less. Heck imagine a sick person coughing into their soup bowl and then months later their germs hiding in the clay would pop out to infect whole new people.
Also the earliest human use of glass we know of is for its sharpness. Pre-historic people would use volcanic glass as sharp knives for food preparation. Also beads. Pretty much any new substance humans get their hands on for most of our history we immediately try to make into beads.
The fact that it could become see through was a side benefit.
this is amazing and Iâm really glad I reblogged that old bullshit post because I got to learn this
I hate you Ozempic craze I hate you 'heroin chic' I hate you weight loss ads on public radio I hate Burn Fat Fast ads every thirty seconds I hate you I hate you I hate you
I grew up before the term 'thigh gap' was invented I grew up before 'hip dip' was invented I was born before 'muffin top' was a thing before 'clean girl look' was a thing before 'glass skin' was a thing before razoring off peach fuzz was a thing and I'm so so so fucking tired of us inventing new concepts purely for the purpose of convincing people to hate their own bodies enough to buy products
now i donât know enough about omegaverse to say anything definitively but from what i have seen it certainly looks like it emulates insects much more than wolves.
like if youâre looking for an animal with strictly defined castes and extensive use of pheromones you are looking for ants i think
one time I went over to a friend's house and their housemate was making paper in the living room, and we saw this big tub full of water they were using to dissolve old scrap paper into a slurry, and everyone was immediately like "oh, you need scrap paper?" and started turning out their jacket pockets and producing expired coupons and bus tickets and crumpled receipts and old shopping lists and whatever else they'd been carrying round with them for no good reason, and passing it all to the paper-making housemate to make sure it was suitable before it got torn up and dropped into the tub, while people took turns stirring the slurry with a big wooden stick. it was strangely ritualistic, like presenting an offering to some kind of temple elder for inspection before placing it in a watery shrine to be devoured and reformed. pulp for the pulp god.
every night before bed instead of meditating or praying, I sit perfectly still for a while trying to blow that guy up with my mind
if we all start trying and it happens, weâll never know which one of us has psychic powers and I kind of like that
this video has been going around for a while but the English subtitles didn't match the energy of the spoken French at all. i had to fix it.
