I had surgery two weeks ago to check definitively for otosclerosis and to replace my stapes with a prosthesis. on monday I go in to get the surgical packing removed.
already getting a LOT of questions from people asking if I've "noticed any improvement yet," which is probably well meaning? I guess? except it's sort of making me feel under pressure to give people the answer they want: yes! I'm fixed! no more hearing loss!!
I've had very mixed feelings about this surgery from the beginning. I'm hopeful for a positive result, but I'm conscious that it's not guaranteed and I think I will probably still need a hearing aid or other supports further down the line.
I'm mostly okay with that, I think. it's just frustrating because I can't talk about it honestly without people around me IRL dismissing my feelings and/or getting frustrated and saying that I'm being a doomer

#girl who is clearly healed and doing okay
my favorite thing about louis is he's a business major in a world of theater kids. everyone's playing psychological games with each other through theater and rock music and the fractured art of storytelling and he's like "but what are the margins on my vampire hotel"
It’s so fucking bananas that the last straw for Lestat in that meeting was finding out that Louis was getting 45% of merch profits on his tour. What kind of joker ass motherfucker becomes an investor in their ex’s crash out??? Louis Du Pointe Du Lac no one ever did it like you
I was in hospital recently for an ENT surgery, which was a bit stressful, but also fun because I made friends with a 71 year old retired ED nurse who would regale me with work stories such as the time she pocket syringed a patient in the toe with sedative after he stabbed her in the stomach with a biro
there truly is no TV plot point too far fetched, just people who have not worked in frontline services
this but it's TV plot points that feel like they're stretching the limits of suspending disbelief
