sometimes it’ll be inconvenient. sometimes you will have to sit through a movie you don’t enjoy and still say, “it was nice!” sometimes you’ll have to forgive them for things, and sometimes you’ll have to have tough conversations. human connection is often about learning how and why and what and when to care about another person. at least the one’s that are worth it. it might cost a couple more emotional dollars, and the shipping is a couple business days more, but it’s worth it.

Once you've learned the spot the historical signposts, it's interesting how many "generically medieval" fantasy settings manage to miss the actual medieval period on both ends. They've got the Roman Empire rubbing shoulders with the German Renaissance, skipping directly from the year 500 to the year 1500 with nothing in between!

(The one consistent exception is, of course, the obligatory Vikings-with-the-serial-numbers-filed-off culture, who legitimately are medieval, but nobody they interact with is, so you've effectively got Vikings with time-travelling boats raiding both Roman-occupied England and Renaissance Italy.)

Nah, that's a different thing. Diana: Warrior Princess is directly parodying Xena: Warrior Princess style "everything prior to the early modern era happened at basically the same time" historiography, which is actually less structurally weird than your standard "medieval" fantasy setting's "Western European history went directly from the fall of Rome to the Renaissance with nothing in between (except for the Vikings)" deal.
