“Terf is a slur used to silence us” dang bitch I wish it worked shut the fuck up
For my fellow canadian leftists
Canada is a colonial white supremacist genocidal state, just like the US and Israel. Mark Carney literally said Canada Strong will Make America Great Again not long after doing a speech in front of an Israeli Flag weeks after Canada was found to be continuing the genocide of the Indigenous population. As well as restricting immigration, building pipelines, Militarization, more nationalism and so much more. Carney literally told Doug Ford that he (MK) is more conservative than him (DF)
80% of Saskatoon's, the biggest city in Saskatchewan, homeless population is Indigenous despite making up 12% of the population. Black people are 20x more likely to be shot by police in Toronto. There is a reserve that has been on a boiling water advisory for 3 decades. MAID is being forwarded as an option for disabled people, while disability services get cut. We also had slavery. it's just never talked about. Theres the residential schools in which the last one closed less than 3 decades ago. The government also signed a 50 million dollar contract with Palantir. The PM is also allowing Daniellr Smith to create an illegal 2 tier heathcare system in Alberta, among many other issues like massively extractive mining operations worldwide and the entire country being an oligopoly. And so much more
But yeah we're soooo much better than the United States

Okay, I was just going to reblog this without commentary, but I can't keep this to myself. I'm a PhD student in environmental science and this is my fucking highway.
The first published study about climate change (that I am aware of-- feel free to point out if there's an older one) is an 1896 paper by Svante Arrhenius. He pointed out the link between the greenhouse effect and changes in atmospheric CO2.
Plate tectonics, which the geoscience community now recognizes as near indisputable, was a fringe theory until about the 1960s.
Just in case anyone thought that climate change was a "recent fad" in research.
“Teachers are often unaware of the gender distribution of talk in their classrooms. They usually consider that they give equal amounts of attention to girls and boys, and it is only when they make a tape recording that they realize that boys are dominating the interactions. Dale Spender, an Australian feminist who has been a strong advocate of female rights in this area, noted that teachers who tried to restore the balance by deliberately ‘favouring’ the girls were astounded to find that despite their efforts they continued to devote more time to the boys in their classrooms. Another study reported that a male science teacher who managed to create an atmosphere in which girls and boys contributed more equally to discussion felt that he was devoting 90 per cent of his attention to the girls. And so did his male pupils. They complained vociferously that the girls were getting too much talking time. In other public contexts, too, such as seminars and debates, when women and men are deliberately given an equal amount of the highly valued talking time, there is often a perception that they are getting more than their fair share. Dale Spender explains this as follows: “The talkativeness of women has been gauged in comparison not with men but with silence. Women have not been judged on the grounds of whether they talk more than men, but of whether they talk more than silent women.” In other words, if women talk at all, this may be perceived as ‘too much’ by men who expect them to provide a silent, decorative background in many social contexts.”

Seeing people I know and like using AI is making me understand the protagonists of those old time sci fi dystopia's.
"Oh I don't normally use AI, I just wanted it to plan my trip"
You lived on this planet for decades, you know what you like, there are hundreds of websites where you can type into any search engine " things to do in [area]" and have at least a hundred different options.
"Oh I only use it so I can figure out what to make during the week with what I have"
The most popular website as you type in "recipes" into google have sections where you click dinner- quick and easy and those usually rely on staples + 1 or 2 items. I found 30 recipes on chicken alone.
"I had a writing idea, so I typed a few sentences into Chat GPT and I was able to write 20 pages with it."

"incurious" still GOAT insult. You could be better but you're not. You could learn but you won't, and for no good reason, just a base dispositional apathy. Get fucked
My biggest lesson for the year is that if you feel like you always have more questions than other people or it takes you longer to figure things out it could be because you’re thinking of things that never occurred to people. You’re like “well I’m not very good at 4d chess I only know basic beginner moves” and there are people that are just playing regular 3d normal chess but a million times more confidently and successfully in complete blissful ignorance that there’s an entire other dimension of chess to be played
maybe if tumblr allowed you to typeset your posts in LaTeX it would have succeeded in becoming the next pdf
\documentclass{reblog} \usepackage{tumblr} \begin{document} I dunno, feels like this could be a little unwieldy\ldots \end{document}
Welp. it almost parsed on my blog.
#The FUCK you mean your blog theme parses LaTeX#wait...#does this mean xkit could parse latex if it really wanted to?#truly the new age of posting
All you need to do is load and configure MathJax as part of your custom blog theme, and then you too can make tumblr the new pdf :^)
i've got the kind of eyebags that make people in movies say 'you look like hell, detective. go home.'
