it’s infuriating when the customer is wrong yes we all know this. however it’s probably 10000x worse when the customer is right, because what do you MEAN my coworker deleted 7 of your fucking accounts off of your profile when you just wanted to edit them and now I have to deal with it??? i can’t even be pissed that you’re being a bitch about it because i would be too!!! fuck!!!!
Pro tip for when you run into this:
1) take a deep, irritated breath and go "oh" in a voice of sudden, ground-down revelation. Let the customer hear you.
2) "you're right. I see what they did. That is...okay. I don't know why they did this. Let me straighten it out. I'm so sorry." <- do this in a tone that makes it clear Your Coworker Is A Moron. Now it's not you versus the customer, it's You And The Customer Versus This Dumbassery.
It won't make the rest of the job any easier, but it should defuse the customer.
Good advice, but also, when you are the customer, don't be nasty to the person who didn't screw up. It's not their fault.
And if you do go off at someone whose fault it isn't, apologize. "I'm sorry. I know it's not your fault," can go a very long way.
I often have the problem of having to communicate "I know you have no reason to think I'm different from the last three people who promised to call you back, but I am in fact different from the last three people who promised to call you back" without actually saying that. Being upfront about the timeframe in which I'm going to call them back (quite possibly not today) sometimes helps.
It's often the most male-catered to and even misogynistic media that feature some of the deepest and borderline homoerotic relationships between men. But that is to be expected. People think that patriarchy enabling homoaffectionate relationships between men is a bug, but it's actually a feature. True love can only come from a place of respect, and men often don't respect nor esteem women. They don't see women as capable of intellect, or strength, or imagination or even humanity. Those attributes are reserved to men. Which is why men's true love is often reserved for other men while women are just props to them. That's why it's easier for a lot of male writers to create stories about supposedly heterosexual male characters having the most world-shattering (accidentally romantic) bonds with other men, but not with women that they're canonically attracted to. It's because they can't fathom their male protagonist being so deeply affected by a woman's character, since women are to be lusted for and kept as props for their little domestic fantasies but never truly respected or admired as individuals. The ancient greeks were more honest about this stuff because they understood that patriarchy and male/male affection went hand in hand.
stop calling it a girl dinner and call it by its formal name: Fend For Yourself dinner in an ingredients household

'women have too high standards for men' 'its impossible to live up to what women want from men' 'women are too picky and bitchy and mean to unattractive men' thats news to me because i keep meeting and learning about women who would be better off snorting arsenic than even associating with the men that they are dating
sometimes jakey is an ok guy who is just annoying to have around and sometimes jakey needs to actually die for the betterment of society
hey people with uterusussys if you are bleeding a fuck ton with large blood clots you need to go fucking get checked for cancer. This is a massively overlooked sign for endometrial cancer. If you've ever bled so much you need a transfusion go get a biopsy. If you've told yourself you'll just bear the super heavy three month long "periods" go get a biopsy. Stage 1 endometrial cancer basically quadruples the number of potential treatments you can do. Source: it was cancer.
Before this, did you know that 'baby shark' was around in the 2000s as a campfire song and used to have lyrics about losing limbs?

i've got the kind of eyebags that make people in movies say 'you look like hell, detective. go home.'
i feel like an often overlooked downside to 10-episode seasons and the death of the "monster of the week" format is that we get way less whump variety nowadays. used to be that there'd be dozens of opportunities for your fave to get punched or kidnapped or hypnotized or what have you. these days if it doesn't fit into the main plot, it just doesn't happen. this is a tragedy. we should be protesting.
learned today that one of the hosts of a podcast I occasionally listen to was in the epstein files because of an incident wherein she was being sexually harassed/abused by a man who worked in her field -> she created a google doc for other women in said field to anonymously submit the names of men who had harassed/abused them -> one of these men sued for her for defamation even though she didn’t know him & didn’t even know who his victim was -> he couldn’t afford lawyers & reached out to epstein for funding -> epstein gave it to him -> after 5 years she was forced into a settlement & had to pay him over $100k. the way these predatory men find solidarity with each other is so so so profoundly evil
