some people will tell you queer rep isn't important, they're wrong. I think that's obvious, but I was gaslighted into thinking 'it doesn't matter' when I was younger and I know that with so much negativity and puritanical bullshit on social media these days, kids will only be tricked into thinking these harmful ideas even more.
Queer representation, implied queer, queer coding, queer allegories. All of it matters. Never let anyone tell you that it's 'too much' or 'not that deep' because guess what. That representation in shows and games and books? It's what made me not only realise I was queer but also that it's okay to be. It's made hundreds and thousands of queer people (both young and old) that it's okay to be you.
There'll always be homophobic assholes that tell you it doesn't matter but they are so so wrong.
Happy pride month everyone 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
