fluffy, yoongi neighbour!au/winter!au
-Your neighbourhood was always quite close knit and quiet, so the idea of a new neighbour felt quite alienating and daunting not just to you, but to everyone
-Seokjin drove himself crazy trying to figure out what he should bake that the mysterious new person would definitely like, and pestered you every day with new recipes
-Not that you minded much- you’d grown up with Jin’s cooking and it was truly unbeatable
-Jungkook, on the other hand, tucked himself away all day and played video games, convincing himself that the new neighbour would be intimidating and too hard to talk to, to the point where even his beloved Taehyung couldn’t bring him out
-You were kind of worried for the younger boy, having grown up having him as your designated younger brother with a scar from play-fighting, gappy teeth, the widest smile and a shy personality
-Tae had helped him come out of his shell a lot though, and you were thankful for that, only hoping he would perform his magic now when everything started changing around Jungkook
-And then there was you, quite possibly the worst because this new person would be living right next to you, and really they could never be a patch on Hoseok
-Hoseok, your super sweet and bubbly next door neighbour who’d randomly show up in your house with his set of keys and a bunch of movies you’d seen so many times you could both recite them, forcing you onto the sofa to watch them with him
-Whilst you were more than happy that he was going off to Seoul to follow his dream of being a big-time choreographer, you were sort of bitter about the fact that one of your closest friends was being literally replaced by some strange new person so easily-it just didn’t feel fair that anyone could replace Hoseok in your neighbourbood
-So, when the day finally arrived and you saw that huge moving van outside your house, you decided you’d pay no attention to the newcomer- I mean, who needs a new neighbour when you can just video chat Hoseok like he never left?
-But you’d never been so wrong, because a person like this was hard to ignore for too long, though trust me you tried
-It may have been easy to think you could live your life with headphones and hoodies to help you look down and avoid his existence, but your new neighbour’s passion for blasting hip-hop and rapping along at full volume and strange personality was hard to overlook
-His name was Min Yoongi, according to Joon from Number 34, and he’d picked a really sucky time to move into your area as it had been snowing consistently for the past 2 weeks
-Even you’d been shivering even in your thick coat and knitted scarf as you forced yourself out to walk a way too excitable Maisy
-Maisy was your dog and she was pretty much the only reason you didn’t bang your head against the wall on a daily basis
-Without your family nearby, it was quite easy to get lonely, even though you’d found good friends in your neighbours
-Now because Hoseok had gone, Maisy with her fluffy white coat and cute little nose really was the only source of comfort you had
-So walking her consistently and for a couple of miles a day was the least you could do for her in return for the companionship and happiness she’d brought you
-But it seemed that you weren’t the only one with a dog in the area, the new Min Yoongi that you’d been pretending didn’t exist also had a dog, which made him even harder to avoid despite his loud musical habits
-Oh yes, he had a dog- a dog that apparently needed to go out to be walked at exactly the same time as Maisy did every single day at exactly 6:30 am, coincidentally
-I mean who walks their dog at 6:30 in the morning?
-But it wasn’t the fact that you literally walked out of your doors at the same time that made the situation so strange, it was that Yoongi came out everyday in the snow with a bright red umbrella
-Literally bright red-you couldn’t miss it if you tried
-It was kind of endearing, but you didn’t want to think about it too much
-But after a while of seeing him everyday and having him do a slightly awkward wave at you, you’d come to notice that he really was pretty cute
-and after god knows how many hours of hearing his hip hop, you’d sort of realised his rapping style was really pretty
-so it just so happened you found your heart fluttering every time you heard his little lisp alter the words when the sound bled through the walls
-He had messy curled black hair and the deepest dark brown eyes and a toothy smile that made your heart melt, even if it was the most awkward smile you’d ever seen
-in fact, you’d seen him genuinely laugh at his dog, a little black sausage dog, on many occasions and seeing his gums poke out as he laughed made you smile too and your cheeks go slightly rosy and warm with all of those messy feelings he gave you
-After that, it didn’t take many days for your heart to start racing every time he waved at you, and you being hell bent on going the other direction to where he was walking saved you many an awkward interaction as a result of your childish feelings
-Thank God, because let’s face it, you’re Y/n- you were bound to say something wildly embarrassing
-But there was only so long you could take seeing the dumb boy with the cute smile and the red umbrella in the snow before you had to do something, you just had to
-it was driving to a point of crazy that was becoming unfathomable- you thought about him almost all the time, no matter what you heard or what other people had been talking about in front of you
-Min Yoongi had assumed his place on the forefront of your mind
-So, when you both walked out at 6:30am on the dot the next morning in the snow, Yoongi clad as always in his black winter coat with the hood up and his signature red umbrella above his head, you waved first and began to yell
-‘Hey! I have a question!’
-He laughed and you couldn’t help but feel your chest flutter at the sound, his little dog leaping excitedly at the interaction
-‘Go ahead!’ He replied, cupping his mouth with his hands- his voice was so much deeper than you’d imagined and it made the butterflies so much worse
-‘Why do you always have an umbrella in the snow?’ Your face burned
-‘So I don’t get all wet like you! You should try it sometime.’ He laughed and pointed at your clothes, covered in small spots of water from the flecks of snow that had found their way into your clothes, leaving you breathless
-It was so stupid how a dumb conversation with a premature crush had you in such a way
-You decided to yell, determined not to let the opportunity slip away
-He turned around, signature gummy grin wide on his face as he raised his eyebrows
-In your moment of confidence, you started to run towards him, feet almost slipping in the snow as Maisy ran excitedly along beside you
-You felt the redness of the cold spread across your skin and the cold air race inside your body as you laughed and tried to catch your breath, still wondering why and how you had the courage to do that
-‘So what did you want to say?’
-You felt the lump in your throat, chest burning and heat rushing to your cheeks despite the bitterness of the weather as you stuttered
-And you’d never seen Yoongi’s smile so wide as he laughed that laugh that makes your heart melt and feel like it’s actually beating at the same time
-Y/n, haven’t you seen that’s what I’ve being trying to do ever since I moved in?’
-You went bright red, shaking your head as you tried to calm yourself down about how Min Yoongi had been trying to talk to you for the past 2 weeks
-And how Min Yoongi had purposefully made sure he walked his dog at the same time as yours every damn day
-And that could mean that Min Yoongi likes you too?
-You shook your head, trying not to meet those pretty hazel eyes that you knew could make you babble on about how much you frickin adored him before your brain could try and stop you
-‘Really?’ He laughed a little, clearly equally as confused at how you missed all those signals
-You swear you’re the dumbest girl oh my gOD WHY
-You looked back up at him again and for a moment the world seemed to stop spinning because all you could think about was YoongiYoongiYoongi and how close you were and how perfect and pretty his smile was and how you’d never noticed the little mole on his cheek before
-‘Well, I guess we better make up for lost time then’
-And thats when he grabbed your hand, intertwining your fingers with his warmer ones and making the heat of him feel stronger than the cold around you both as you started to walk, the fresh snow sinking beneath your feet...
