Marc Davis’ Jungle Cruise

Disney legend Marc Davis wasn’t just the animator of Tinker Bell, Thumper, Maleficent and Cruella De Vil. He was also one of the Imagineers behind some of Disneyland’s most popular rides!

When the original, ‘serious’ version of Jungle Cruise failed to wow Disneyland crowds, Walt Disney asked Davis to come up with some gags for the ride. Shown above are some of Davis’ original sketches for two of the most iconic scenes in the Jungle Cruise – the elephant pool and the trapped safari. It’s amazing to see how little was altered in the transition from drawings to the completed ride.
