If someone’s getting racist in line at the grocery store or on the subway, stand in between them and their targets. Especially if you’re a cis, able-bodied, straight white male. Today marks the 104th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, the systematic extermination of 1.5 million Armenians by the Ottoman Empire.

Every year, on the eve of this day of rememberance, young people across Armenia gather in Yerevan and march to the Genocide Memorial with torches, in the memory of the victims of the Genocide.

To this day, both Turkey and Western powers like the United States, refuse to recognise this monstrous reality that forever marked the Armenian people, its scars still visible over a century later.

It’s about time for the perpetrators to assume responsibility.

It’s about time the tiniest bit of respect was paid to all those brutally tortured, raped and massacred.

In order to properly heal, justice needs to finally be served.

I lost many family members to this tragedy. My grandparents barely made it out to America.

The United States still refuses to acknowledge this event because of negative backlash from Turkey. President Coolidge was given a rug woven by orphans of the genocide. The rug has never been allowed to be on display, for fear of negative reactions from Turkey. The rug was allowed out of storage only once for a private viewing. Presidents have denied it even having a temporary display in the Smithsonian.

How many people even know Armenia exists? Never mind that there was a genocide of 1.5 Million men women and children?

This is a disgrace and it must change.

Corporations aren’t leaching, they’re being paid for a service, and that service is making sure we’re all too tired and hungry and desperate to ask why, after thousands of years or labour saving technological advancements we’re working 3 times more than we did when we had to build our own homes and forage for every meal, and have a lower quality of life for our trouble

The minimum wage was established so one person (the head of household) could comfortably financially sustain an entire household. The family would still have to save up for a vacation or new family car (which were meant to replace a dead old car, not replace with the snazziest car on the lot today).

Now 2 full time working adults can barely fund their existence supporting a now-smaller family.

Minimum wage wasn’t supposed to be what you earn once you establish your skills, education or ability to reach acceptable standards (“janitors don’t deserve $15 an hour, anyone can do it” logic). It was your living wage, that all working adults were entitled to.

And better income needs to be available and provided for disabled persons, regardless of employment or how often they are able/willing to work.

BREAKING: The Office of the Inspector General has released disturbing new images of how overcrowded Trump's concentration camps are.

According to NBC's Gadi Schwartz on Twitter, the OIG review found that "out of the 8,000 detainees in Border Patrol custody during their visit, 3400 had been held for longer than the 72 hours permitted. 1500 had been held for longer than 10 days.

31% of the 2,669 children being housed during IG RGV inspection in June had been held longer than 72 hours. That’s over 800 children. 50 of those kids were under 7 years old, without their parents... and had been held for over 2 weeks."

THIS IS NOT OKAY.
