I Scream, You Scream
We all scream for ice cream! Today is National Ice Cream Day and to honour our favourite frozen sweet treat, we at Petite & Sweet are sharing a few ways to modify an old school favourite – vanilla ice cream.
First, we dipped traditional waffle cones in white chocolate and sprinkled shaved coconut, crushed pistachio and sprinkles on top. Delicious!
Creating these beautiful (and tasty) dipped cones was easy. You’ll need:
waffle cones, white chocolate, shaved coconut, crushed pistachios, and sprinkles
1. Bring a small pot of water to a boil on the stove. Place the chocolate in a smaller bowl and place into the boiling water. Make sure the bowl is safe for high temperatures. 2. Stir constantly until chocolate is melted, then remove the bowl from pot. Careful – it’s hot! 3. Dip the tops of the cones into the melted chocolate and sprinkle with your choice of topping. We used shaved coconut, crushed pistachios, and sprinkles, but feel free to get creative and try something different. 4. Allow the chocolate to cool and harden - this should only take a few minutes – scoop on some ice cream and enjoy!
Why not forget about the cone all together? Scavenger around your kitchen for something unique and beautiful to serve your ice cream in. Stick to a particular shape, colour, or texture, or forget about the rules and mix it up!
We love these monochromatic cups and bowls.
Next, our pièce de résistance - the ice cream. We kept things classic with vanilla ice cream and experimented using different toppings. Again, take a look around your kitchen and try out combinations of drizzles, toppings and sprinkles. Use fruit, syrups, jams, vegetables, sweets, herbs and edible flowers.
Avocado Lime Mint
We also sampled an extremely refreshing, cucumber mint variety. Perfect for a hot summer's day.
We hope your National Ice Cream Day is sweet. Whatever you do today, make sure to have at least one scoop – or maybe two :)
