AU Petyr & Sansa Instagram Official
While she wasn’t one for living through her social media, she loved sharing things that made her happy. Instagram had long ago been reduced to family and friends as her followers now, no longer long lost school friends or a friend of a friend. With her so far away from family, Instagram had been a quick way to keep in touch with all of her siblings and Winterfell friends. It was a way to keep up with Margery and Roslin, when not attached to the hip and living together.
That ‘surprise’ weekend away had given her feels and now look what had happened, she had made it Instagram official. Sort of.
‘So why haven’t you posted his face yet?’, probed Ygritt while munching on the chips half scattered on the bar table in front of the group of girls.
Sansa sipped her drink to buy her response time and hopefully move them all off topic. Sansa had invited her out while in town to get to know her brothers girlfriend more, she had forgotten how forthright she could be. No good deed went unpunished apparently.
‘I…look, it’s still new’.
No it wasn’t, it had been 12 months of sneaking around. Sansa had known the date was approaching but hadn’t wanted to make a big deal. The secrecy of it all gave it a casual vibe to her sometimes. If anything she hadn’t wanted to freak him out by mentioning it. So, she had pretended like it was any other Friday afternoon when she arrived at his penthouse and planned to lounge around while he finished up work. Petyr had surprised her, in his being there when she let herself in with her key. He had his suit still on, two black leather weekend bags at his feet, flowers in hand and whisked her out the door for a weekend in Dorne.
To say she had been on cloud 9 was an understatement. The euphoria of it all lead to her bravely posting a handful of subtle photos on her Instagram.
Urgh. What had she been thinking!
’ Is he ugly?’, asked Jeyne with an equally horrified and sympathetic face.
’ What…No! He’s gorgeous!’
‘He does dress nicely’, defended Margery while scrolling the photos again on her mobile, Roslin nodding in agreement next to her.
’ Those flowers are beautiful Sansa’, added Roslin.
'Oh I can’t believe he took you to Chanel’. Ygritt rolled her eyes at the pout from the brunette and mimicked Jeyne behind her back, causing Sansa to choke on her drink a little.
’ He has nice hands’, summarised Margery while Roslin tried to save and zoom in on the photos.
'I thought you’d go for the clean shaven and pretty look but I like the beard’, added Ygritt.
'Ohh your totally right. Is…is that gray I see in the beard?’ Margery studied it closer while all the other girls gasped and near collided heads while they all bent over odd angles to get a closer look.
Oh gods Sansa cursed in her head, swigging the rest of her drink and desperately began searching for the quickest route to the bar with her eyes. Sansa quietly prayed that Margery wouldn’t start to put two and two together, she the more likely of the group given she new him before hand.
The girls were beside themselves to discover it was and looked at her with a mix of shock, delight and intrigue, even more then before this night began.
'He’s older?’
'How much by?’
'I had no idea you were into that at all but I’m impressed and jealous girl!’
'Oh …my …god! You have a sugar daddy!’, Jeyne accused loudly and with a pointed finger. Sansa tried to shoosh her and pull her arm down while Margery and Ygritt howled with laughter. Roslin was quiet and observing her with a funny look. Sansa had been about to ask if she was ok, the others were back to gawking at the photos when she heard those dreaded words come out of Ygritt’s mouth.
’ That smirk of his is sexy’.
Sansa felt a chill run down her spine and she tried not to tag Margery’s eyes but it was instinct and too quick. Margery’s face slowly showed recognition, she had heard those words before.
Sansa has used those words in regards to one Mr Petyr Baelish some 12 months ago. Bloody Instagram!

Meta Monday
Fandom is a little messy. Emotions are high, and so is anonymity; a combination that can go very wrong (see Antis). But it’s a new year, and we can all resolve to be a little better to ourselves, and each other, especially in fandom spaces that provide refuge to so many.
Fandom positivity this week, with meta recs selected by @fangirlangela.
Fandom
Criticizing Fandom is Criticizing Women by @buckyballbearing (original removed) et al, I see a lot of posts going around talking about the need to be critical of fanfic, and how we gotta watch out for the messages we’re sending. Well, here’s one thing I’m gonna need us to be critical about: Every statistic I’ve ever seen says fanfic authors are heavily female (or nb).
Fandom Etiquette by @memorizingthedigitsofpi, I’ve been around for a really long time in various fandoms, and no one ever writes this stuff down. I’ll start. Please add to the list. We can’t expect people to follow “rules” they don’t know exist.
Golden Rules for Fanfiction Readers by @randomishnickname, If the fic already has a thousand comments, comment still. Your comment will still matter and delight the author.
Hey, everyone! Today, we’re going to be talking about feeling shame and guilt in fandom by @razielim, No, actually, you don’t have to hide liking certain ships from your friends. You can if you want, but that feeling of guilt and shame that you feel when someone mocks something you like, or worse, calls it problematic, isn’t something that you have to feel. You don’t have to break things off with your current friends, but please know that you CAN find friends that won’t judge you for liking things they don’t.
On Fanfiction by @shadesofmauve, et al, I was cruising through the net, following the cold trail of one of the periodic “Is or is not Fanfic the Ultimate Literary Evil?” arguments that crop up regularly, and I’m now bursting to make a point that I never see made by fic defenders. We’re all familiar with the normal defenses of fic: it’s done out of love, it’s training, it’s for fun. Those are all good and valid defenses! But they miss something.
PSA by @undadasea, I love every fanfiction author on earth !!! Thank you so much for using your own time to provide us with a free(!) story to read that is 10x better than every book I have read put in one!
What I love is your unique perspective… by @cosleia (original removed), I love ideas, and story tropes, and headcanons. But what I really love is the fanworks that explore these things. The idea, the trope, the headcanon…those alone don’t give the work value, for me. What I love is your unique perspective.
Why Commenting on FanFiction is Important by @boothewriter, Alright kids, Boo here with a hopefully non-arrogant PSA. I’m a writer of FanFiction because I like it and it’s my preferred genre (also a great way to receive feedback on writing that I can use on originals, bref). But like with most artistic work posted online, I have very little feedback.
Tips for Writing Comments by @lvtvr, okay just got done typing up a Long Ass Comment for a fic that i love and bc writers Live™ for comments but a lot of ppl seem to find it difficult/scary to write them, here are some tips from me, who has been on both sides of the fence.
The Year of Loving Things Again by elizabethminkel of @fansplaining, I’ll own up to occasional doubts about fandom and its compatibility with adulthood. For me, it’s a mix: sometimes I wonder whether I’m enjoying the right stuff, and sometimes I wonder if I’m enjoying stuff the right way. It’s always easier to play it cool rather than expose your depth of feeling—and it takes a certain amount of confidence to go on loving the thing anyway. Fandom is full of inherently confident people, even if they don’t realize it.
You don’t need to justify your love of something by @boyonetta, “You can criticize something you love!” Yeah, and you can also get tired of criticizing something you love. You can get completely fed up with it and decide, “You know what? Flaws aside, I love this thing, and I don’t have to waste hours of my life admitting its flaws to strangers on the Internet in order to somehow justify my love of it.”
Great compilation, thank you for this!
(also, followers, go read that article, “The Year of Loving Things Again” - it’s wonderfully written and deeply hopeful)

petyr + sansa ☔👅☕
goddammit girl okay here we go:
“Fuck.”
It was the only word to express the way that Sansa felt at the moment. Her convertible had broken down, which unfortunately included the button to put the top up. And the thunder rumbling in the distance did not give her a good feeling.
“Damn it.”
Seconds later, it began to rain.
Sansa considered calling her roommates or her parents, but both would ask about the dark bruise on her cheek. She was out of her pocket concealer, and there was no Sephora nearby.
Then it began to pour.
Continuing to curse under her breath, she dialed the number of the one man that might not ask questions: the CFO of her abusive boyfriend’s company, who she had been casually falling into bed with the past few months. The sex was great, but the way he stared at her after always freaked her out. As if she really meant something to him.
But Sansa Stark knew that she didn’t mean much to anyone.
Shaking away that thought (though, surely, her parents would’ve known about Joffrey if they truly loved her), she waited for him to pick up.
It only took one ring. “Sansa,” he breathed over the line, and she shivered.
“Mr. Baelish, I-”
“Petyr.”
“Petyr,” she corrected, “I don’t suppose you could… I mean, I wondered if-”
He interrupted her. “Sansa, just tell me.”
“My car broke down and it’s raining - please can you come and pick me up?”
There was a moment of silence, then: “Why did you call me, not, well-”
‘Anyone else,’ she finished in her mind. “I’m coming back from Joffrey’s,” she admitted out loud.
A sharp inhale. He understood. “Text me where you are. I’m leaving now.”
He arrived within fifteen minutes of ending the call, offering her a towel as she climbed into his car. “I’ve called the towing company to retrieve your car. They should be here in minutes. Sansa, where-”
Then he caught sight of her face.
His whole body tensed, knuckles turning white on the steering wheel before releasing and cradling her jaw. When he saw the full extent of the damage, he hissed. “I didn’t know,” he began, sounding caught off guard for the first time since she met him. She could only stare at him with wide eyes. “I didn’t know that he was physically…” he trailed off. “How long?” He demanded.
“Months,” she said quietly. She didn’t even have the wherewithal to lie anymore.
He stared at her a moment longer before turning to put the car in gear, mumbling under his breath.
Sansa waited a few minutes before speaking. “Can you take me-”
“We’re going to my apartment,” he told her, voice broking no exceptions. “We need to talk.”
They exchanged no more words as they drove. Once they were on the outskirts of the financial district, he turned into an underground garage; she assumed that the gorgeous building towering above them housed his apartment. He led her to the elevator and up to the penthouse, where he directed her to a bathroom to freshen up. “I’ll bring you a change of clothes. Do you want anything to drink? Coffee? Tea?”
“Coffee please,” she requested, still feeling dramatically out of place. He nodded, slipping out and returning with a full set of women’s clothes. They fit her decently; too well, she thought, and she would have made a run for it.
By the time she was ready, he was already sitting on the couch with both of their coffees. Hers had the perfect amount of cream and sugar, but when she glanced up, he just shrugged, not bothering to explain himself.
That should have been her first warning.
“Why am I here?” She said finally.
He raised an eyebrow. “You called me, sweetling.”
She sighed, exasperated. “Petyr, no games. Tell me the truth.”
He seemed to evaluate her for a moment before nodding. “I meant to wait a little longer, for you to come to me in earnest,” he began, looking uncertain. She tried not to let it get to her; she knew Littlefinger was very capable of faking any emotion needed. “I’ve always admired you, Sansa, how you survive in the lion’s den. But they think you are a dove. A soft little bird who sings the songs that it’s taught. You’re not, though, are you?” He paused. “You are stronger than even I gave you credit. I thought you might… need help.”
Sansa looked at him with suspicion. “Help with what?”
He smirked at her. “The Lannisters, of course.”
“What about them?”
He only moved closer to her, taking her hands in his. “I don’t want them around, same as you. Let me help you get rid of them.”
Sansa scoffed. “You work for them.”
“Then why have I not told them that you’re being unfaithful to Joffrey?”
“You don’t want to implicate yourself!”
He reached out to hold her face in his hands for the second time, and she was too shocked at his audacity to push him away. “Or maybe I want you.”
Sansa’s breath hitched. Petyr was not an unattractive man, both in mind and body. The idea that he would help her with the Lannisters simply for her was as desirable as it was ludicrous. He smirked again, noticing her reaction.
Taking advantage of her state of confusion, he leaned in and kissed her softly. “What’s in it for you, really?” She asked, pulling away, but just barely. He wouldn’t let her go too far.
“Besides you?” He murmured against her mouth. “Chaos. Power. A chance to see them all on their knees. That, and your kisses, are all that I desire.”
Now, that sounded more like Petyr Baelish.
She let him kiss her in earnest, tongue slipping between her teeth and coaxing hers into play. They had slept together, of course, but never had she wanted him so badly as this moment.
Their kisses grew more relaxed and slow over time, before a thought occurred to Sansa. “How?”
“Hmm?”
“How will we hurt them? We can’t fight them,” she clarified.
He smiled then, slow and wide like a serpent. “We aren’t going to fight them. Oh no, sweetling, we’re going to fuck them.”
No sooner had he gotten the words out that Sansa leaned forward, initiating a kiss for the first time.
He might be a crooked, dangerous man, but his words were far too sweet to resist.
send me a got ship + an emoji and I’ll write a drabble!
My thoughts, exactly.
It’s nice to know we’re not the only one thinking this season and the handling of Baelish’s character was complete shit. The writing has gone SO downhill.
They’ve turned Littlefinger into a pathetic one-dimensional villain and he never was. We’re not saying he’s a good man. No, he’s done loads of horrible things but lots of characters in this story have done horrible things. It’s the dumbing down of interesting and smart characters to make way for boring, predictable ones.
All of the interesting characters have been killed off, literally. We’re now left with good vs. evil and frankly WHO CARES what happens now? Because we KNOW what happens and how the story will end and it’s boring as hell. All the characters that COULD have put a big twist and changed things around are now dead.
I agree with everything he said about he dumbing down of smarter characters because they’re too smart for the plot. The writers don’t know what to do with them because their ‘heroes’ are so lackluster and dumb. LF HAD to be dumbed down to make Sansa a Mary “girl power” Sue with Super Arya by her side. Bran had to know “everything” to bring someone like LF down because we all know these dumbasses couldn’t do it on their own merit.
LF wasn’t allowed to defend himself. Everyone just accepts Bran’s ‘visions’ as gospel, Ned is somehow Jesus (even though noble but dumb as a pile of rocks)… conveniently forget that LF tried to help Ned’s dumbass. Was LF supposed to die with him because Ned was stupid? No. Megamind Bran conveniently leaves that out. Sansa leaves out that Lysa was going to kill her (doesn’t matter if LF was planning on taking control in the Vale…her ass would have been out the Moon Door), Arya’s Psycho Mary Sue’ing is just as bad.
People can hate LF all they want, but this show has devolved into something completely boring and predictable. Everything that made it remotely interesting is long gone. It’s not just sour grapes our favorite character was killed off in the dumbest way possible. LF wasn’t just some classic ‘villain’ devoid of any human qualities. If you’re cheering he’s dead and that your favs are still there to ‘save the day’ then that kind of writing is for you. Simplistic tropes that have been done to death. You want a storyline that is easy to follow, good vs bad characters, and a happy ending.
Sorry not sorry….that I’m the sour grapes fan that expected more…expected better. If this is how the story was going to pan out, I would have stopped watching a LONG time ago. I was hoping that since a character like LF had lasted so long there had to be a good reason, that some kind of twist or something unexpected was going to happen. Nope. Killed off in a way his character would have anticipated and said “Hell no, I’m outta here…bye, bitches!”

Only thing I want to add: it’s okay if you’re not in a place to offer $$ support right now, because you can be supportive in other ways (like letting people know the above) & your financial situation may change in the future. Don’t feel guilty or defensive about being poor! You’ve got enough to be dealing with.
The corollary, of course, is this: if you read fic on ao3 & want ao3 to be there in years to come, and you have the resources to give…maybe you should? Not trying to guilt you–just something to consider.
I am very much a seat-of-the-pants actor. I will prepare when I have to. But I like being unprepared.
