this just in: people who identify as pansexual, polysexual, queer, heteroflexible, homoflexible, bicurious, or unlabeled instead of bisexual are not automatically biphobic because of their label choice. telling them to identify as bisexual instead because you think they fit the criteria of “bisexual” is identity policing, and it’s fucking gross.

jesus people are actually taking this as me saying that no one ever chooses these non-bisexual identities out of biphobic misconceptions? like of course they do. there are plenty of people who say things like “I’m homoflexible because bisexuals always have 50/50 attraction and I have a preference” or “I’m pansexual because bisexuality is transphobic.” and that’s bullshit and needs to be called out.

what isn’t cool is when someone says “I identify as ____ because it’s the label I like” and telling them “no, no, that’s bisexuality, you’re bi, you’re biphobic for not identifying as bisexual instead.”

the context of this post was someone in the bi tags saying that “heteroflexible” is inherently and always a biphobic label and literally harassing people who identify as heteroflexible. which is gross. you don’t get to interrogate and harass people for choosing a non-bisexual identity.
