In Todayās Magic Story...
I know I know we still have podcasts, and this isnāt technically story, but I canāt really critique/comment on the interviews. Ā So Iām taking this opportunity to stay in shape with my words and wit. Ā And Iām still waiting on my team to see if the files I sent them work.
Minor disclaimer before we begin: Iāve never actually played a game of D&D before. Ā I was in the beginning of a few Pathfinder campaigns, but never actually finished one, despite desperately wanting to. Ā Last summer, my friend & DM had to move, so our sessions were interrupted. Ā And itās not like I can play it elsewhere, especially when your mother believes role-playing games are satanic, but oh well. Ā With that out of the way, letās take a look!
Invention on Kaladesh is democratic ā anyone can learn it, and it isnāt restricted by class. Ā Thereās a political statement in here somewhereā¦

What does a ring of the ramĀ do?
I protest at the use of the wordĀ āinfestationā when referring to gremlins. Ā What areĀ a group of gremlins called anyways?
Aether fills the Blind Eternities ā the space between planes. Ā This means that Eldrazi either have a resistance to it, or else are unfazed by it. Ā In either case, Kaladesh is screwed if an Eldrazi decides to visit.
Ah yes, musical artifacts, playing such popular tunes as The Gremlins Wedding March.
What medical devices? Ā Iām all for magical mechanical medicinal devices on Kaladesh, but why have we not seen any?
The Consulate and the Renegades
Before it mentioned how there was limitless aether, and I questioned why the Consulate has to regulate it. Ā Then I had a vision of a powerful warlord or pirate creating a giant doomsday device with aether, and I realized how important the Consulate really is.
Reminder that the realĀ Consulate believes that aether-based society should be available to everyone. Ā Side-note, I wonder if there are Luddite-like people on Kaladesh, wary of the aether revolution.
The consulate values form over function.
There are, in fact, many different renegades, but the Consulate has just grouped them all together to spread fear.
I may not have played D&D, but that is definitely an axe, notĀ a rod of rulership. Ā Even in the next picture, they even said it mimics the effects of established items ā why not just say that here?
That moment you realize Kaladesh doesnāt really have religion.
I actually disagree with the Hermit description. Ā Wouldnāt being locked away in a Consulate research lab be more hermit-like?
Side-note, when we revisit Kaladesh, it either needs more pirates, or else we need to see the rest of the plane. Ā Or both.
The Aetherological Society is independent of the Consulate, but not opposed to them.
