The Radioactive Man Who Returned To Fukushima To Feed The Animals That Everyone Else Left Behind
Naoto Matsumura is the only human brave enough to live in Fukushima’s 12.5-mile exclusion zone
He fled at first but returned to take care of the animals that were left behind
He returned for his own animals at first, but realized that so many more needed his help, too
Matsumura, who is 55 years old, knows that the radiation is harmful, but he “refuses to worry about it”
“They also told me that I wouldn’t get sick for 30 or 40 years. I’ll most likely be dead by then anyway, so I couldn’t care less”
Matsumura discovered that thousands of cows had died locked in barns
He also freed many animals that had been left chained up by their owners
Many of them now rely on him for food
The government has forbidden him from staying, but that doesn’t stop him either
He started in 2011 and is still going strong 4 years later
He relies solely on donations from supporters to work with and feed the animals
His supporters are calling him the ‘guardian of Fukushima’s animals’
The man clearly has a sense of humor as well
This hero deserves way more notes.
There should be a way to donate to this guy
Actually I spent some time and I found a link to donate to him. Click here to be sent to a website where you can donate to his efforts

If I’m ever apprehended, my memory palace will serve as more than a mnemonic system. I will live there.
- Could you be happy there?
one taught me love
one taught me patience

Do you know of any German lullabies besides Brahms's lullaby? It's the only one I can find but surely it can't be the only German lullaby, right?
*googles wtf brahm’s lullaby is* oh ok. :D (It’s just called Guten Abend, gut’ Nacht in German btw)

Try one of these. Most famous ones (according to me):
Schlaf, Kindlein, schlaf
Schlafe, mein Prinzchen, schlaf ein
Weißt du, wie viel Sternlein stehen
Honestly, as a German I can not quite understand the obsession of the English speaking world with the question whether a word exists or not. If you have to express something for which there is no word, you have to make a new one, preferably by combining well-known words, and in the very same moment it starts to exist. Agree?
Deutsche Freunde, could you please create for me a word for the extreme depression I feel when I bend down to pick up a piece of litter and discover two more pieces of litter?
um = around
die Welt = world
die Umwelt = environment
ver = prefix to indicate something difficult or negative, a change that leads to deterioration or even destruction that is difficult to reverse or to undo, or a strong negative change of the mental state of a person
der Müll = garbage, trash, rubbish, litter
-ung = -ing
die Vermüllung = littering
ver- = see before
zweifeln = to doubt
-ung = see before
die Verzweiflung = despair, exasperation, desperation
die Umweltvermüllungsverzweiflung = …
This is a german compound on the spot master class and I am LIVING
#my german is still too basic for this but I desperately want a compound word for how much these compound words piss me off
das Monster = monster
das Wort = word
der Groll = grudge, anger, malice, rancor
der Monsterwortgroll = …
Monsterwortbildungsimitationsunfähigkeitsverzweiflungsgroll
die Bildung = formation
die Imitation = imitation
un- = un-, in-
fähig = able
-keit = -ility
die Unfähigkeit = inability
der Monsterwortbildungsimitationsunfähigkeitsverzweiflungsgroll = anger about the inability to imitate the formation of monster words

Der 9. November in der deutschen Geschichte

9. November 1923 - Hitler-Ludendorff-Putsch in München
