hey gang
awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
wait is it really true that "the noughties" isn't just a common expression in most of the world???
like, people must at least know it, right? it's just that i don't want to put it in a post and have everyone stare at me blankly like they did when i said "fortnight"
Do you ever use the term "noughties"?
Yeah, I'll use it sometimes / interchangeably
Nope, I'd personally never think to say it, but I'm familiar with the word
I've literally never seen that word before in my life
you as a child in the noughties
see. this is why they stopped naming decades after 2009. because all of you thought you were hot shit and such whimsy was beneath you.
and now look where we are. the fucking "tWeNtY-TwEnTiEs"
i mean you "OUGHT" to show some respect
bear in mind this was the decade that brought us such things as:
hatsune miku
9/11
uh
okay tbh most of it was miku or 9/11 related

Happy heavenly birthday to Jimmy Stewart, who was born today in 1908, 118 years ago, in Indiana, PA. He appeared in more than 80 films over his five-decade career, most famously It's a Wonderful Life (1946), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), The Shop Around the Corner (1940), No Time For Comedy (1940), You Can't Take it With You (1938), The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), and The Philadelphia Story (1940), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as Macaulay "Mike" Connor. Jimmy served in WWII as a pilot, and was promoted to second lieutenant in 1942. He flew in 20 combat missions and won two Distinguished Flying Crosses and four Air Medals. Jimmy, who'd been a "confirmed bachelor" for years, married Gloria Hatrick McLean in 1949, and they remained married for 45 years until her death. Jimmy adopted Gloria's two sons, Ronald and Michael, and together they had twin daughters, Judy and Kelly, in 1951. Jimmy died in 1997 at age 89 of a heart attack. His last words were "I'm going to see Gloria now.

I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HE-MAN!!
Everyone disregarded that and called me Nicki for the entire night.
I tried.

i think one of the things that makes lup such an iconic character despite not having much screen time is how Griffin manages the timing in subverting your expectations. Like he gives justin a few episodes of breathing room to get used to saying “Lup and I do this” (essentially conditioning him and the audience to perceive Taako and Lup as one character in two bodies) and then when it comes to a high stakes emotional situation he has Lup stand against the entire rest of her team including Taako. Justin tries in that scene to say “Lup and I do this” and Griffin takes the reins from him to say “Lup doesn’t do that. It’s antithetical to her character.”
And then we get another moment that tries to rein them back in as one player unit where Taako calls her “Lulu” and Griffin (as Lup) quickly and humorously shuts that down.
She’s Lup, not Lulu. Her personhood is not bound to or dictated by Taako, or even her team. She won’t stand by and watch a world burn, even while her brother roils in apathy. She will beg him to reconsider but she will not bow her morals to him. The player and the viewer don’t make her decisions. She is part of Taako—her first few episodes teach us to see them as one entity— but she is not beholden to him.
Also she’s trans
my irrationally large but fully canonically justified pet peeve about a really minor thing in taz balance fandom is people saying that barry and lup had crushes on each other for 47 years before they admitted it. because that would imply that they fell for each other at first sight, like within the first cycle — but at least to me, the whole appeal of canon blupjeans is that they didn't! when barry, quote, "felt it first," it was "during a particularly challenging year," implying they were past the first cycle by then (because otherwise griffin would just say cycle 1), and most likely, they'd even gotten far enough into the century for the "average" difficultly of a cycle to become at least vaguely established. then lup "wasn't far behind" all the way on cycle 17, the robot world, where she had her realization, and like... her feelings didn't just spring into existence fully formed out of nothing when she saw barry getting zapped by one cute robot one day; there was definitely a gradual buildup, but like. there's nothing in the framing whatsoever that suggests they were "in love at first sight" and "in denial starting from the first cycle," as opposed to just. falling in love slowly. it was a love they cultivated "quietly and cautiously" — because they had all the time in the world, as the people they trusted most were happy to remind them. and i like that because i like slowburns. not policing how people wanna characterize them or AUs or what have you, but the slowburn is canonical and heart-meltingly gooey. they're not love at first sight, because they're something much more uniquely barry and lup about it all, and that's beautiful
Something I noticed from the bonuses for pre-ordering the last TAZ GN is that Lucretia has pink tips on her hair :,)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone draw her hair with anything other than like white and/or dark brown and black. I really enjoy this look she has for the Stolen Century arc!! I think pink fits her (I’m extremely biased bc I love her and my fav color is pink)
Explaining homestuck isn't hard and doesn't take ten thousand paragraphs to do y'all just don't know how to summarize things.
Homestuck is a webcomic where there is a multiplayer video game called Sburb which is a standard component of reality itself. Sburb, when played, destroys your original universe and transports you to a liminal place called a Land where the goal is to create a new universe and reality. Because all the realities are made by previous players of the video game, there's a large cast that follows multiple timelines/realities. Because all of this is also a video game, there are some bugs/hacks/glitches. Much of the later plot of Homestuck revolves around trying to glitch reality in a way to kill an unkillable glitched final boss to save and fix the timelines/realities which were all glitched to being unplayable/unwinnable because of it. There are a variety of mediums in which the story is told and the guy from Undertale did a lot of the music for it.
Yes, because that's not explaining Homestuck, that's writing a book report. This is what I mean when I say people don't know how to summarize.
I don't think I'd call that "explaining homestuck" then, though. There is more to a story than the world it's set in.
You don't need to explain the concept of Jujus, galaxy frogs, classpects, and x2 planar defenestration combos to explain Homestuck. Overexplaining is actively counterproductive to what an explanation should be, which is to make someone understand the bones of something.
Also, I don't want to spoil people! Homestuck is a genuinely cool webcomic that I think handles itself really fascinatingly well and I would rather give the above explanation which doesn't immediately overload them with shit like ectobiological theory and lets them come across it at their own pace.
Explaining the narrative is an entirely different ballpark than explaining the concept of Homestuck. And explaining the narrative isn't explaining Homestuck: it's giving a book report.
lost me in the first sentence homie
That's your problem with reading comprehension then my dude, not my problem with clarity.
"Homestuck is a webcomic where there is a multiplayer video game called Sburb which is a standard component of reality itself," Isn't as digestible as you seem to think it is. I mean, I'm sure it makes perfect sense to someone who has read Homestuck, but to anyone who hasn't, that's a huge suspension of disbelief to come right out the gate with.
My dude, I have some real bad news about any and all stories ever told and suspensions of disbelief about them. This is literally a you problem.
That initial summary is pretty informative and succinct. Just one question, what is it like tonally? Upbeat, downbeat, exciting and exploratory or despairing and bleak?
Tonally, it’s mostly a long series of silly jokes
rests my noise on you
My guilty pleasure right now is watching luxury hotel reviews and I found this british guy who keeps accidentally clipping into the backrooms.
He's unintentionally making the best liminal horror content on youtube
i'm still watching this guy and it's AMAZING
the empty shop? he just opened all the unlocked doors he could find and stepped through open door in his boat hotel.
the "yikes"? he got lost in his hotel, and it's the same where he had to ask three different people his way to his room.
the elevators and then the creaky door to the stairs? he stepped in the elevator and tried to get to the top floor and stepped out of the lift in there.
all those three were when he was in Dubai
he also did some "worst hotel" videos and it's BONKER too
it's really fun to watch him get in places and having to sleep there. (not sure I can forgive him for having mistaken a french horn for a trumpet though)
I am deeply uncomfortable with this man's corner
