i dont count katsa from graceling as the not like other girls trope for many reasons, starting with that trope requires the main character to hate on other women, usually with slut shaming, comparing other girls to her, and general misogyny. katsa initially calls herself a monster and struggles to find her humanity throughout her story. it is not her comparing herself to other women, it is her comparing herself to the people around her to try and find her humanity and understand her grace. second, katsa is a defender of the women and girls around her. she teaches bitterblue how to defend herself and builds trust between them, doing everything in her power to ensure bitterblue not only survives but thrives. she values hildas input on her life, so much so that she asks her to take care of bitterblue as she took care of her. she respects captain faun, the queen, the serving girls at the inn. she doesnt belittle them for their differences, she doesnt view them as inferior. truly kristin cashore wrote katsa to defy a trope that defined 2000s media by a landslide.

one time i was making potato soup and i needed broth for it but i was out of broth. but in my dog food cabinet there was a carton of chicken broth that i had bought for my dog. now the box did say HUMAN GRADE and the ingredients were just bog standard chicken broth. it did say something about joint health for dogs on there. but the ingredients were normal. i even compared the ingredients list to some normal person broth and they were the same. so i did put dog broth in that soup and it did taste completely normal. but i did use the dog broth.

Ok like. Imagine life without ads. You wake up, check your messages across a variety of apps, no ads. You get up and put on the tv while you prep your breakfast, no ads. Maybe you drive somewhere and switch on the radio, no ads. Maybe you drive a long distance, yet somehow, not a single billboard on your path. You pick up a newspaper or magazine to pass the time, no advertisements only articles. You turn on your game console, the home screen is just about your games, no ads to buy more. You open a streaming app, you don't pay extra for no ads, there's just no ads ever.

Think about how much of your time is spent looking at ads. "Download ublock" yeah I know, I have. But that doesn't change that the world is covered with endless advertising. Imagine never seeing that again. How much better our lives would be.
