because some folks were curious, here's what my phone's keyboard looks like and how I type on it.
I wasn't expecting this to go anywhere but the keyboard is 8vim! it's not perfect, it notably can't do emojis and obviously typing is gonna be slower than proficient two thumb typing, but for my clumsy self this is largely competing with swipe typing, and I'll always take the speed hit to not deal with autosuggest
this post is awesome because it gets everyone in the world thinking they're the funniest people on the planet into my notifications to be gigantic assholes about the thing I use as an accessibility tool. and yet I can't lock it. because its spreading awareness about an accessibility tool and has already gotten several people to give it a shot and install it. so in unrelated news I think I'm going to start killing people
Hi OP, hope you don't mind me adding on a couple other alternative keyboards:
This is called Thumb-Key (F-Droid link) and is available for Android - there's a paid version on Google Play, but it's available FREE as an APK download or through F-Droid (recommended for automatic updates) (note: this may be affected by Google locking down 3rd-party apps later this year). The letters are arranged based on statistical frequency in English, iirc. Tap for the center letter, swipe in the indicated direction for other letters/capitalization toggle on A-up/punctuation. This is good for one-handed use and does have emoji support! Personally I haven't used it very much, because I found the second keyboard listed shortly afterwards, and that one worked much better for me in terms of speed and having less of a learning curve.
This is called Typewise (Android link) and is available for both Android and iPhone. It works best with two-finger thumb typing. It's fairly easy to get comfortable with, and I've ended up using this as my standard keyboard the overwhelming majority of the time. No swipe support, but because the keys are larger and more finger-friendly, the level of accuracy is way above and beyond anything you can get with a standard phone keyboard. And when you factor in having to redo words because the swipe gesture was interpreted wrong, I think my overall speed is pretty similar, but with far less annoyance. This one also supports emojis!

You ever hear that old chestnut about how most people neglect the part of the story of Icarus where he also had to avoid flying too low, lest the spray of the sea soak his feathers and cause him to fall and drown? You ever think about how different the world would be if Icarus died that way instead? If the idiom was to Fly To Close To The Sea? A warning against playing it far too safe, about not stretching your wings and soaring properly? You ever think about how Icarus died because he was happy?

the truth is the most discourse poisoned weirdos among us are not even on tumblr at all, they're walking around the physical world acting like normal people until their sleeper activation topic comes up.
when I was in undergrad I had this professor who spontaneously decided in the middle of a class on, as far as I could tell, a completely unrelated topic to go on a bizarre tirade about how human pregnancies are actually 10 months long and saying it's 9 months is a patriarchal attempt to minimise women's suffering. she very confidently justified this by explaining that there are four weeks in a month, so 40 weeks is 10 months.
when someone pointed out that a month (except February) is actually four weeks and two to three days, and that 40 weeks (280 days) is a lot closer to 9 months (275 days) than it is to 10 months (305 days), she told him to stop mansplaining.
then a girl pointed out that the actual length of a typical human pregnancy isn't even 40 weeks, it's 38. I think we all collectively blacked out after that

dick makes people mentally ill. dick havers, dick wannabes and dick lovers are all insane. it's like toxoplasmosis, you have compulsive need to defend and push and worship dicks all the time and spead your dick mania to everywhere you go.
this seems rational and grounded in empirical evidence
