For every supposed "False Red Flag" on Shinigami Eyes, there's been 500 false green ones.

Green flags are given to anyone who isn't spearheading the latest "Kill a Tranny" campaign, ignoring if they give baseline support to the narrative of the campaign, saying shit like "They said some dumb stuff, but they don't deserve death threats!", or when they participate in the next "Kill a Tranny" campaign. They're marked Green! How can they be transmisogynistic?

I'll be honest, people who use Shinigami Eyes are not only way, waaaay to lenient with making any random person green, but also way too stingy with not marking more people red. Seen way too many people, and I'll be blunt, other transfeminists, who have gleefully participated in transmisogynistic behavior or straight up harassment campaigns against another transfem and they are still marked green, not even losing the green status.

today’s worldbuilding project is a superpower setting called “fortress and the damsel”. Fortress and Damsel are people, the two most significant reality-warpers currently active.

Fortress constantly generates an aura of safety, which keeps the people within a certain radius from getting hurt. Like, survive a nuclear strike level protection. It covers miles, so she can easily protect an entire community just by being there. She has some degree of ability to manipulate it, and has been known to shrink the radius to just cover herself if you try to force her to be somewhere, so people “court” (read: lavishly bribe) her to keep her around.

Damsel is in the complete opposite situation, because her power grants anyone trying to rescue her from a dangerous situation with whatever powers they need to succeed. You can win a whole war that way if you can get the right people to keep her prisoner. Just like Fortress, she’s a hot commodity, but instead of obscene social influence, she’s in hell.

The inciting action is somebody trying to use Damsel to kill somebody within Fortress’ radius, only for Fortress herself to show up and go “hey baby, want to be safe forever so nobody can use your power ever again?” and run off with her.

This is a very different narrative depending on if you’re watching Fortress and Damsel or if you’re watching the rest of the superpowered community.

For the two of them, it’s a romance between two people who have been treated like objects in very different ways! Damsel is having a grand old time being spiteful and flaunting her new situation while Fortress lavishly indulges her.

For everyone else, this is the nightmare scenario. Fortress isn’t a superhero, she’s a free agent that can shut down everything from police raids to intercontinental bombings, and she takes bribes! Damsel has the only known superpower that could beat her, because if Fortress was threatening her in some way, reality would shift so she could be rescued.

And instead of serving as an emergency backup against Fortress, Damsel has disappeared into the safe zone to learn how many orgasms she can have before she passes out. There is no contingency plan for horny lesbians.

maybe this is not my place to say because I am monolingual, and I'm sure it's part of a larger, more nuanced discussion about visibility and accessibility on the internet, but I think it'd be cool if people posted in their native languages more instead of in english. I see people do it way more on other platforms than on tumblr which is almost exclusively in english

El problema es, como bien has dicho, la accesibilidad y la visibilidad.

Tumblr en concreto es muy anglocentrista y un gran número de los usuarios no habla más que inglés. Si quieres que tus cosas lleguen a gente con gustos u opiniones similares, escribirlo en inglés asegura que la gente por lo menos lo pueda leer. Suma a esto el hecho de que bastantes series y tal son originalmente de habla inglesa (y a veces ni se traducen a tu lengua madre), lo que crea un fandom principalmente angloparlante.

Más allá de eso, también hay que tener en cuenta las diferencias culturales que surgen entre fandoms de distintos idiomas. Por ejemplo, durante mucho tiempo el fandom de Vocaloid angloparlante y el hispanohablante han chocado con respecto a temas como la piratería. En ocasiones es complicado manejar estas expectativas, y si sabes varios idiomas, peor incluso.

A mí me gustaría subir cositas en español y encontrar a gente que comparta mis gustos, pero en Tumblr en concreto es casi imposible. Tumblr ya es de por sí mucho más «nicho» en espacios hispanohablantes que otras RRSS como TikTok o Instagram, y si tus intereses no son muy populares, despídete.

La lingüística de los espacios de fans también está hipercentrada en el inglés. No es una pareja, es un ship; no es un universo alternativo, es un AU; no es destripar, es hacer spoiler, etc. Incluso las siglas: en español es LGTB, pero lo que sueles ver es LGBT. Parece una tontería, pero esta disonancia cognitiva hace que resulte muchísimo más complicado hablar en tu propio idioma en un fandom. Por no hablar de las innumerables referencias a posts o a memes... en inglés todo, por supuesto. Como te atrevas a hacer cualquier referencia cultural no inglesa, no te entiende nadie. Pierde la gracia.

Casi todo esto se puede achacar al imperialismo cultural estadounidense. El inglés es útil para comunicarse con gente de todo el mundo, pero su omnipresencia sirve de barrera para todos los demás idiomas. Quizás habría que reflexionar un poco sobre por qué coño el resto del mundo tiene que tragarse años de clases de inglés para hablar del juego que le gusta en una red social mientras muchos angloparlantes no se dignan ni a meter un texto en un traductor automático y prefieren pasar de largo.
