I don't like the interpretation that for vampires biting = sex tbh like that's not even true. Biting is a form of intimacy but not all form of intimacy is sex. And when people say biting is automatically sexual assult it drives me crazy! Sometimes the biting can be interpreted as sexual (Louis feeding on ArmandRashid) and if they're doing it without concent it can be an metaphor for sexual assult/rape (Lestat turning Louis can be seen as sexual coercion, or when Lestat bites him before dropping him from the sky can be interpreted as marital rape). But often times the biting is just violence and therefore it can be seen as physical assult/abuse (Louis biting Daniel, vamps feeding on humans in general). It can also just be a form of intimacy, a show of trust in a non sexual way (the theater coven biting Claudia and the turning of Madeline).

I actually think it’s important that Daniel earned them on his own. If he didn’t, then there is no future for them. I like to hope that Armand helped him publish his first book (Roman Weiss could also be someone Armand knows), and then Daniel did most of it on his own. Armand maybe cleaned up some messes and helped him get sober, but the writing was 100% Daniel.
