it took australia like 3 years to actually understand eurovision, but when they did, THEY FUCKING BROUGHT IT
If I were Big enough to get a Met Gala invite and had the money to buy the $30,000 ticket for it, why on earth would I walk out in a boooooring cute white flowy dress when I was not only given permission to but ASKED to come strutting in with a circus tent goddamn skirt and honest to goodness chicken feathers plunging top, with gloves up to my shoulders.. like heLLO
Oh to be a gremlin child again. Covered in grass stains and grazes, hair unbrushed with daisies in the knots, no concept of my own physicality, half way up a tree and eating an apple around my missing tooth. To be unabashedly ugly, to be unashamedly hungry, to be healthy and hearty and lean and covered in bruises and full of love and sun warmed strawberries. To feel time stretch forever, only flying when I fall into books. To love summer once more, and her insects and sweat.
i hope you all fall in love with someone who never stops choosing you and i hope you feel at home when you look at them

“It’s not a concert you are seeing, it’s a fashion show.” — Freddie Mercury Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) + costume design by Julian Day
“I approached it as an ensemble piece. Normally, when I do my show and tell to people, you show a single character at a time. But [on Bohemian], I wanted to show the four of them as a band. A lot of people have said the scenes where they’re all together in the studio really work because it was conceived with the four of them together at all times.”
“For the early scenes, I wanted to give it more of a ‘60s vibe, quite hippie, a sort of Woodstock feel. The colours were more subdued for Britain at the time. After three gigs in Britain, the film goes to America where they toured as a support group for five concerts there. For those scenes, there’s a real American feel, quite a Western look with suede, fringing, checked shirts and cowboy hats. From there, the film moves to Japan where we have a much more colourful tone with pop art references.”
“For the 1974 Sheer Heart Attack Tour in Japan, Freddie and May wore tops made by Zandra Rhodes and we remade them from the original pattern. The story goes that Freddie went into Rhodes’ boutique and she was making a wedding dress and Freddie went ‘I really love that top,’ She apparently cut the bottom of the dress off and gave him the top. We call that ‘the Angel,“ the big, white, winged, pleated outfit. Then we also produced the harlequin outfit that he wore and the leather pants and leather tie. We then approached Adidas and they reproduced the original boxing boots that May and Freddie wore. We had a lot of companies making original things for us: Wrangler, for instance. The jeans that Freddie wore at Live Aid in 1985 were Wrangler jeans and we had those produced. Adidas and Levi also remade clothing for the film.” — Julian Day
Like Freddie, Brian May and Roger Taylor had their own distinctive styles of dress. For Brian May‘s wardrobe, Day kept the palette mostly monochrome, dressing Gwilym Lee in blacks and whites, while Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor is more colourful and dandyish with lots of sleeveless waistcoats. John Deacon’s wardrobe is an amalgamation of the three but with a British twist. In the scenes at Rockfield Farm, he’s almost channelling Tom Baker-era Dr. Who in a long, striped scarf and African coats. [x/x/x]
