I consider myself an omnist but am particularly devoted to all the goddesses of the world. My main devotion currently goes to Mary, the Queen of Heaven, who I worship as a multi-faceted goddess, especially in her apparition as Our Lady of Guadalupe who I syncretise with Tonantzin Coatlicue. I also have begun to worship Asherah. I have other minor, situational devotions too which I might mention over the course of posting on here.
Some of my hobbies include poetry/creative writing, roleplaying, reading, going on long walks, and practicing divination on my friends.
I have degrees in both Anthropology and History; I have taken classes about and personally studied various ancient and contemporary religions. However, I do not claim to be an authority or expert on the topics of this blog, nor will I necessarily be knowledgable about xyz topic of your choice. Please trust the textbooks before trusting me. When it comes to my UPG, take what resonates and leave what does not.

Yes, I used to be a MCYT/fandom blog and I will still occasionally interact with fanart and fandom analysis. However that will not be the focus of this blog. My username was karlvods -> qskeppy. I think I'm gonna keep it as qskeppy because I find it a little funny considering my new content but I'll let you know if it changes.
I am open to religious discussion, including those that challenge what I think, but will block anyone who is unnecessarily rude or dismissive of my beliefs.
I'm a communist. DNI fascists, right-wingers, MAGA, PRI/PANistas, transphobes, racists, Zionists, pro-lifers, etc.

Description
This painting is in response to the Boer war.
In Our Lady of Peace we see a Christian knight, who is about to depart for battle, kneel in a church, and pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary (Our Lady of Peace). De MorganĀs use of traditional Christian iconography and chivalric imagery is however, subverted by the look of nervous consternation on the face of the young knight who seems to be praying not only for protection, but also in the idealistic hope that his actions will bring peace.
Roman Catholic veneration of Our Lady of Peace focuses on her roles as a mediatrix of humanity to God, protector from dangers and advocate of sinners and during both the Boer and First World WarĀs there was widespread use of Christian and in particular Marian (of Mary) imagery in order to make sense of the disasters of war. EvelynĀs depiction of the Blessed Virgin Mary, surrounded by celestial rainbows and bedecked in laurel wreaths is therefore a potent and recognizable symbol of salvation, redemption and hope in the face of the futility of attempting to bring peace by waging war.
Some lovers carve their names in trees. But in this case, some devout follower of the Guadalupe decided to give this one a sample of motherly love instead.Ā Ron Mader | Flickr CC BY-SA 2.0
Ā "I sing of golden-throned Hera whom Rhea bare. Queen of the immortals is she, surpassing all in beauty: she is the sister and the wife of loud-thundering Zeus, -- the glorious one whom all the blessed throughout high Olympus reverence and honour even as Zeus who delights in thunder." -Homeric Hymn to Hera
"The presence of a cuckoo seated on the sceptre [of Hera] they explain by the story that when Zeus was in love with Hera in her maidenhood he changed himself into this bird, and she caught it to be her pet [in order to seduce her]." - Pausanias, Description of Greece 2. 17. 4
Iām currently reading "The Transformation of Hera: A Study of Ritual, Hero, and the Goddess in the Iliad" by Joan V. OāBrien. She argues, sometimes speculatively, about the early cult origins of Hera, but I still find it very interesting.
The book suggests that Heraās early rites in Samos might have portrayed her as arriving annually on a horse drawn chariot at a confluence of waters, where her bathing and binding to a cultic tree were believed to renew all life, presenting her as a goddess of the seasons.
There also seems to be an argument that she had a connection to the Potnia Theron, based on the large animals associated with her and the artifacts found at her temples, such as lions, griffins, and sphinxes. Her association with domestic animals like cows and horses could suggest that she was seen as a tamer of beasts, and her yoking of the bull may be parallel marriage and the "taming and yoking" of the bride.
I find this especially interesting because it aligns with my view of Hera as a goddess who makes things perfect.
In some traditions, it seems that she was worshipped in different life stages with epithets such as Hera Pais (the young maiden before marriage) Hera Teleia (the married woman) Hera ChÄra (the widow or separated woman)
I drew her here as Hera Pais, a young maiden, the Kore of Samos, dressed in red and yellow thought to be the colours of bridal wear in antiquity. I would like to draw her again soon, I really enjoyed drawing her but I have to work on drawing animals, the cuckoo looks too much like a pigeon lol
