When I was early on in my transition I got in a Lyft, and the driver was this big country guy. I was a little nervous so I just sat quietly in the back.
After a moment he changed the music on his phone to what sounded like a Hatsune Miku song. Curiosity got the better of me, so I finally spoke up and said “is this Hatsune Miku?”
And he said “Yep. You looked uncomfortable, and I know Transgender women like Hatsune Miku, so I thought it might help.”
I think about that interaction a lot.
I've been considering posting about my science more on here-- like a quick over view of my research questions, why it's important, some graphs and an explanation of what they mean. Either in post form or a infographic?
Obcet I'd also link to the paper.
I don't know if anyone would be interested or of I'm just going to be creaming into the void. I guess I'll try it, and if no one cares, I'll just stop.

I want you to remember these ones
And these ones
I want you to remember:
The fascists hate you too and they just will pretend otherwise until after they've killed the rest of us, before they turn on you.
Thanks to whoever tried, but I knew they'd never allow it.
Let's do it the old fashioned way. Spread it far and wide.
To anyone wondering if it's worth it to tear down fascist posters or whatever. I spent a few months last year engaged in silent battle with another student at my school who was putting anti trans stickers up everywhere. I had it down to a system where every night I would walk the five block radius they went up in, and tear down all the ones I could reach, and use a stick to put duct tape over the others. Like, within hours of the stickers going up, I would have already purged the whole zone. I knew the basic schedule of whoever put them up based on when and where the stickers appeared. I probably could have found them in person if I'd wanted to. And I told all my classmates and friends what the stickers looked like and got them to rip them down too. And after a few months of this, the stickers slowed, and then stopped forever.
My point is, a lot of this fashy or right wing stuff is one local weirdo. And if you pay attention, and do a little light organizing with your friends, you can basically make their efforts into a giant sisyphisean exercise in misery. You control your streets!
Remember: It costs money to keep printing those stickers, but ripping them down is free.

I forgot how much of a space space Tumblr is. Thank you Tumblr community for remaining to be one of the few bright lights left in an increasingly dystopian nightmare
i think you should be allowed to cite scholars who are bad people but only if you put the word (oof) or (yikes) after their name
like Parker (yikes, 1989) or Obbink (big oof, 2007)
Freud (derogatory, 1923)
#reminds me of the time a former grad student from my dept cited the unabomber in a math paper with the footnote ‘better known for other work‘ @sierpinskis-assket
Funny enough I purposefully refuse to write about anything where I would have to cite certain scholars that are absolute pricks.
If you’re an American federal employee and got an email saying “it’s ok to quit your job.” Do not, for the love of everything, quit your job. This is purely a scare tactic to get rid of as many people as possible without legal consequences.
I want you to remember:
The fascists hate you too and they just will pretend otherwise until after they've killed the rest of us, before they turn on you.
Btw, this is how conservatives keep getting to claim that trans people are a new thing no one has ever heard, because our history and existences have continually been erased or obscured systematically through out history.
The most famous example was 92 years when the Nazis raided the library of the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, the medical practice where the term transsexual was first coined and the first gender affirming surgery was performed in in 1931.
What did the Nazis do after raiding the library on May 6th, 1933? You may be familiar with these images
It is happening again.
oh ok we’re just speedrunning fascism now
Always include a link. Screenshots are not news. But yes this is real.
The Trump administration has asked federal agencies to cull webpages devoted to gender diversity and sexual health.
As someone who taught History of Psychology for 4 years before moving to the UK to start my postdoc, I can also confirm that our scientific understanding of trans people and queer people keeps getting erased.
I will not panic that I have finished 1.5 years of my 2 year postdoc. I will not panic. Nope.
