When he asks for the scalpel, you obviously grab it to press into his waiting hand. But you sneak in a kiss to his palm. Mayuri flinches, taking his hand away. Despite his mischievous grin, he scolds you for not doing as he instructed. You know his scolding holds no bite though.
Rukia-
Finally, Rukia is the type to get mildly flustered at surprise kisses! But like her brother, she melts into it if the surprise happens when you're alone together. You both do parallel play sessions, where she goes over necessary captain's paper work while you do (insert activity here). Part way through though, you find yourself needing a snack. So you get up and ask Rukia if she wants anything. She'll join you in whatever you decide to have. Before you go get them, you plant a surprise kiss on her nose. Rukia's cheeks heat up as she hides her face in her papers. But she smiles widely into the paper as you wonder off.
Hopefully this'll be the template for my next digital art*. Turned out all muddy and weird cuz i didnt really know what i wanted til it was almost done. I also didnt use a pose reference which is *screaming* like the worst idea every time.
Anyway this is my 'what if Ychweh(sp?) wasnt able to be used as the next god' idea. Mayuri already planned for that possibility and dw he's got it covered, everything is CLEARLY under control:D

I think one of Kubo's truly underrated design decisions is when he decided that the captain's haori came in SLEEVES or NO SLEEVES options, and that each captain just gets to pick. Like, you can just mentally run through the captains and their choices are all very obvious and correct. There's no easy axis to explain this one, aside from "would like sleeves yes/no?" and it's such a delightfully subtle bit of character-building. This is to say nothing of the fact that Zaraki chose sleeves and then ripped them off.
it occurred to me that the reason Zaraki's sleeves are ripped off is probably because he's wearing the haori he took off the corpse of his predecessor and didn't like that it had sleeves, which honestly only adds to the character-building aspects.
Now, the only official pictures I could find of Kenpachi Kiganjō are cropped in such a way that you can't tell if he's got sleeves or not. He definitely seems like a no sleeves guy. There are a few fanarts of him that also have torn-off sleeves. Fanartists can do what they want, I kind of assume they didn't have any source for that, aside from Zaraki's haori. The guy two-Kenpachis ago, Azashiro, had sleeves, so I suppose they could all be wearing his. The problem is that Kiganjō was enormous. Like, Zaraki is big, I know, but Kiganjō was 7'3" and 700 lb. I think it's kind of unlikely he's sharing clothes with any of them.
Anyway, I think the actual explanation is that Zaraki did not actually read his captain-onboarding packet and fill out the required forms, so they gave him the default haori (sleeves) and then he had to deal with it. He probably also can't check his gotei dot death email because he didn't sign the Responsible Computer and Hell Butterfly Use Agreement, either.
My fiance was fired from their job and I am disabled and currently fighting for disability between appointments with pain management and neurosurgery. We desperately need money to feed us, our cats, and have gas to get me to and from doctors appointments. There's a bony growth near my brain, y'all, I might end up needing surgery to remove it, on top of the other shit wrong with me. Any help is appreciated.
