look, a society could exist where culturally men are supposed to have long flowing well maintained shinny hair and women are supposed to be completely bald. If it’s a patriarchal society, the association would still be positive masculinity for men and negative femininity for women. “men grow their hair long to show their vitality, men maintain their hair to show dedication, longer hair means you’re stronger, longer hair means your wiser” vs “women look better to men bald, women who grow their hair are vain and trying to be men, women aren’t rational and shouldn’t draw any attention where their brain is, women need to put the extra effort of meticulously keeping their head bare because that’s what their time is good for” on and on and on we could construct positive reasons for men to do what we now consider feminine things. It’s all arbitrary, the end goal is to make men feel entitled and superior and for women to be objectified and second class.
