Helllllo everybody, my name is Markiplier (false) and today we’re doing another probably false Weird Route theory! I know it’s already been a month, but if you somehow hadn’t played it yet,

CHAPTER 5 WEIRD ROUTE SPOILERS AHEAD! YEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As per usual, every chapter 5 weird route post has to start with this photo:

Lake Sceeeene! We all know it, we all guiltily love it, it’s probably the most interesting piece of the Weird Route yet! The main thing I see people are focusing on is what’s shown in the picture above: although Noelle gets progressively more submerged in the previous sprites, she’s fully above-water in the last one. So either Kris and Noelle found an air pocket or they broke out of bounds. The question that naturally arises after that is: where exactly did they go? I have a somewhat reaching theory. For this, we’ll have to skip back to Undertale for a moment and admire this Undyne call in the garbage dump in Waterfall:

So we know that the waterfall in the garbage dump flows down to some seemingly endless abyss. Now, this is incredibly reaching, but just hear me out on this, okay? We know the two games are connected because of the Sans punch card dialogue (GO CHECK OUT MY THEORY ON THAT IN MY BLOG PLS CHECK OUT MY POSTS), so what if they’re connected like this? Terrible artist’s rendition coming up…

This was made on the iPhone photo editor markers by my hands. I’ll put the idea in writing: what if this is how the two games coexist? Not as separate universes, but two sides of the same earth? What I’m suggesting ultimately is that both the Undertale and Deltarune worlds are flat and they sandwich The Abyss between them. What is the abyss, then, you may ask? Well…

THIS. The vessel creation space. Gaster’s lair. Whatever you wanna call it. We know Tricky Tony made the imagine from four mirrors of an image of the ocean, right? Well, what if both worlds are connected by the water like this and this is what’s in between? What if this is the place where Kris and Noelle end up at the end of Chapter Five’s Weird Route? Also, another thing that may or may not support this:

‘Side B’. Everybody knows the Side B screen. Well, do you know how to access the B Side of a cassette or Disc? That’s right, you flip it upside down! This only further supports my theory/delusion that Deltarune Chapter Seven may partially take place in Undertale.

Guys. GUYS. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this until now, but I believe I have had yet another breakthrough in the weird route prediction case! As usual, check my previous weird route posts on my blog if you haven’t already, I think they are very interesting! Also, CHAPTER 5 WEIRD ROUTE SPOILERS AHEAD!

So… lake scene, am I right folks? (I wish I knew who made this photo so I can credit them, this is hilarious.) I think we are all familiar with this scene. But I think we have forgotten one very important Deltarune fact regarding bodies of water…

The vessel creation thingy! I couldn’t find the video, but it’s a known fact that Toby Fox made this background from an image of a lake. And where do Kris and Noelle go? That loads Chapter Seven’s B side? Wheeeeeerrrreee?????????????

Sorry about that, I went insane. Anyway, this opened up a possibility for me! What if Chapter Seven’s B side is the version of Deltarune where the vessel was never discarded? And you finally get to play as the vessel you created back in Chapter One? Like, Kris drowns and dies in the lake and Gaster goes ‘wait, there’s a player here that needs to play! Haha, I’m W.D. Gaster! Friend Device Theory! Hah! Hehe! Hoohoohoo! Hee hee!!!!!” And loads the vessel back up? Just speculation. Maybe Kris and Noelle will still be alive and just no-clipped into True Lab or something. Personally what I would find the coolest is if the end of Deltarune will take place in the Undertale simulation. Because of Sans’s ice cream Punch Card interaction which I talked about in my previous post (GO READ IT GO NOW GO GO GO AND THEN COME BACK), we know Deltarune is connected to Undertale, and that the story happens before the story of Undertale begins. Also, my belief is that Deltarune happens before Gaster gets shattered in the core, because Normal NPC is colored!

Oh, who is Normal NPC you ask? The library guy who also cooked up onionsan (aka Asriel II) and selling them as food. The hometown butcher. My favorite. Anyway, in Undertale, this NPC appears in Grey as one of the Goners, AKA Gaster Followers. Normal NPC’s slip-up saying the onionsan balls were “only for 2 G” leads me to believe they are one and the same.

If this line of thinking turns out to be correct, Deltarune may just end with Gaster’s life being ‘cut short’, which will destroy the device layer and end Deltarune. We always thought Gaster fell into the core, but that’s only because that was the only creation we knew he created. However, it could be Deltarune if we think of Gaster as the creator of the device layer, right? One of his experiments having gone wrong, as Gaster Follower number three says, can just be the weird route! Kris and Noelle break out of the normal storyline and go out of bounds! Now that sounds like an experiment having gone wrong to me! Worth thinking about, I think, no?

Oh my god. Wow. A third part of me talking about Chapter 5 Snowgrave! I’m sorry, but there is so much to talk about is crazy! As per usual, BIG CHAPTER 5 WEIRD ROUTE SPOILERS AHEAD!!! DONT READ IF YOU DIDNT PLAY IT YET OR DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENS YET!!!

Alllllllright, here we are again! I thought I was done with the weird route, but I noticed some very, very interesting things that I really wanted to share with you! So, first on the list:

The punch card! I couldn’t find a picture from the Weird Route, but Susie draws the punch card in the weird route also! Sans tells her to draw ‘you and your friends, so I can remember you’. Keep that in mind. So she draws (in the Weird Route) Kris, herself, and Ralsei. Then hands it to him. And now, I don’t know if you remember this, but this appears in Sans’s lab in Undertale!!!!!!!!

“Don’t Forget”?!?!?!? “So I can remember you”?!?!?!?!?!

I genuinely didn’t see anyone else talking about this! So either I’m under a rock or I’m the first to figure this out! Oh my god! It’s crazy! AHHHHH!!! This is an actual, almost completely solid connection to Undertale and not just a parallel!

Now, to the oh so famous Lake Scene, as I like to call it. Noelle says the following:

Makes sense within the scene, right? But this word being highlighted reminded me of one particular thing from Undertale… specifically…

ENTRY 17! I’m sure you haven’t heard this name in a while! I know it seems a bit far-fetched connecting the two from the word ‘interesting’, but bear with me! Right! Hello, all you Weird Route players! This is my second post on the weird route (you can check out the first in my blog, pretty please I think it’s pretty cool) and I had a rather interesting thought about it after the first one. Specifically, this screen:

We all know this one, right? This is the screen that pops up after we successfully drown Kris and Noelle (hooray!). What’s particularly interesting to me about this is specifically the Side B mention. If you don’t know, a B side is a term in Vinyl Records and cassette tapes. There’s the original track you can listen to, but if you flip the Disc/flip the tape’s direction, you can listen to its B side, which is oftentimes an *experimental, more unfinished track* out there by the artist.

You can see how this ties into the Weird Route, right? As with the Sword Route in chapter 3, which also features an unfinished alternate glitchy version of the mini games and talks about the Weird Route! And the message being on a CRT style screen clearly hints at a cassette tape being the answer. Plus, let’s not forget…

Onion (or Asriel 2 or whatever) mentions hearing a song. IN THE LAKE. **DEEP** IN THE LAKE, EVEN. And when you go with Noelle DEEP IN THE LAKE, CHAPTER SEVEN’S **B SIDE** LOADS UP. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???? WHAT IS THE RELEVANCE OF THIS??? WHOS SINGING????? Well, I have an option! And it all has to do withhhhhhh *drumrolll*

That’s right people, THANK YOU SURVEY! We sure love Thank You Survey, right guys?? Anyway, it is very clear it’s been talking about the Weird Route. To the people who answered ‘The Lake’ to the final question for ‘Where Will It Take Place?’ Got the above message:

See WHO once, exactly? Who does Kris have a personal connection to, who is also connected to music, who Noelle ALSO knows, and who Kris hasn’t seen in a while and needs to see at least once to move on from? Yeah, it’s DESS HOLIDAY!

I feel a tiny bit conflicted about this theory, as I am a Dess Knight truther, but it’s the only option that really makes sense to me at this time. It could be that Kris doesn’t know the knight is Dess, but it’s unlikely considering their partnership which is made VERY obvious in chapters 3 and 4. So yeah, it definitely could be that Dess is at the bottom of that lake. Oh, and also I can’t find an image right now but someone guessed ‘the bottom of the lake’ in the last thank you survey question and got the answer ‘So? What did you think?’ About two hours after the chapter came out, which is really cool. If the bottom of the lake is Chapter 7’s B side, then what’s Chapter 7’s A side? The sky? I guess we’ll see… in due time… let’s hope the wait for Chapter 7 won’t be ten years…

DELTARUNE CHAPTER 5 SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT! EVEN WORSE, CHAPTER 5 **WEIRD ROUTE SPOILERS** BELOW THE CUT!! BEWARE!!!!

Oh my god. Guys. GUYS. Can we talk about that weird route? WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?! HUH?????? TOBY??? TOBIAS TONY FOX???? WHAT?!?!?!?! KRIS DROWNING THEORY CONFIRMED??!?!???? SIDE B???????

Okay, now I can rationalize myself. Sorry about that.Seriously, all of that was so frickin cool. Noelle going psycho, Kris refusing to get up and resisting walking as much as they can so we won’t hurt Noelle more, the whole ‘SOMETHING CRAZY’ speech?? Noelle forcing you to tell her to proceed even when the soul itself presses pause? I know it was only a twenty minute-ish experience, but it was honestly my favorite weird route segment yet. Particularly, and I’m gonna be very happy if you’re hearing this for the first time from me, SIDE B!

Naturally, if you’ve done the weird route and successfully pressed proceed on all 70 dialogue checks, you are presented with the following crt-style screen:

And then it kicks you out to the chapter select screen. When you go back to chapter 5, you’ll find that your snowgrave file is nonexistent in chapter 5, as there are no save points in the parts you could play. Again, just adds to why this is my favorite snowgrave segment. HOWEVER, even though it doesn’t visibly appear, your file does exist in the game files! And it has a tag alongside its name: _b. So there are two ways this can go. Either:

1) chapter 6 loads a snowgrave save file automatically, and starts on it

Or, and this is the option which I find the coolest:

2) in chapter 6/ chapter 7 (probably 7 because of the side b message), in order to continue snowgrave, you will have to finish chapter 7 normally, go BACK to chapter 5, get this message, but this time it will guide you through the files where you will have to FIND THE ch5_savenumber_b YOURSELF AND OPEN IT.

If Toby does this my soul will be his. Which is.. hmm… awfully on theme.
