So, in terrible news, Trump's trying to pull some strings to pass this massive internet censorship bill, featuring all the kinds of internet censorship we're terrified of, including mandatory ID for accessing basically any website, specifically to crush state regulation of AI, because apparently this man will always see the moral bottom of the barrel and start digging.
So, if you live in the US and hate censorship and AI you know what to do, contact your congresspeople and tell them do not fucking dare let this through or so help us god...

As an ADULT, banning social media is going to hurt everyone. Lots of people who care about their privacy regardless of age will lose the ability to communicate with their communities regardless of age. Social media can certainly be bad for kids but it is in the role of the PARENTS to monitor and protect their kids not the government and corporations who clearly have veiled interests.
I also rely on social media to market myself. I shouldn’t have to give up my privacy in order to have the basic right to talk to another.

All went well enough. Link arrived at the shrine of resurrection safely thanks to Robbie and Purah, the Master Sword was safely returned to heal and recover energy, and Zelda felt she did a pretty handy job of barging into the ruined castle like she owned the Hylia-damnned place (she does!)
Kicking in the grand doors of the sanctum was worth it even if it made her heel hurt a little. She had always wanted to do that. Not that she got a reaction from Calamity Ganon, that stupid demon pig just roared and charged her. Of course, the thing couldn't scarcely touch her with all the divine gold radiating off her skin. Extending her power outwards, Zelda sealed the as much of the calamity into the throne room with her as she could, pulling a secondary barrier up around the castle itself. It would not escape, never.
To be honest, Zelda had never really thought about what would happen to her body as she sealed the calamity. She certainly did not assume she would feel it be consumed by malice. She could feel it burn and bubble away, agony that she could not scream for. She hated to know that her Hyrulian bones were somewhere within the sealed malice, bleached black. In a morbid way, she supposes, it gives her comfort that she is not alone in this. So many innocent lives across Hyrule, snuffed out in the most agonizing way possible. It gave her rage, rage that spurred her farther, rage that pushed her to seal the calamity harder and harder. It would not escape, never.
Six years in she found she could push her 'sight' - for it was not sight- outside her magic and look over what few loved ones she still had. She did not dare to search the Great Plateau, she did not want her dedication shattered if Link was rotting in his ancient grave. Seventeen years in, she realized she could feel a truly familiar soul in Zora's Domain, constantly swamped in pain and fear. Against her better judgement, she eventually sent her soul- for that was the sight was, her Hylia-touched soul- to see if her fears were correct and, almost devastatingly, they were. Mipha was still alive within Vah Ruta, albeit trapped and hunted at every second her heart still beat. Covered in blood- both her own and that of the Blight that hunted her- and scars, the Zora Champion fought on, trapped in the divine beast by some twisted version of Zelda's own spell. The Princess- or was she Queen now?- fought on, using her rage that the calamity took inspiration from her to further fuel herself. It would not escape, never.
Nineteen years now, and Zelda could finally trust herself to send tendrils of soul towards the Great Plateau. She could… she could feel two souls. One faded and ungrounded, one grounded and gaining strength but little else. The faded soul was her father and Zelda felt nothing when she realized he was nothing more than a spirit. The grounded soul was hard to push her soul towards, but she eventually managed. Link. The golden light in the heart of Hyrule Castle's sanctum glowed twice as bright for a full month from that moment, for the shrine of resurrection was working! It would not escape, never.
From that point on Zelda pushed her soul as close to Link's as she could, trying to give the champion some comfort as he healed. She could feel it helping, taking some of the burden off of the knight's soul. But slowly, oh oh oh so slowly, Zelda forgot. Little things, at first. Her favorite color- that champion blue- might have been the first to go, at least that she noticed. But she could not bring herself to pull her soul away from Link or to stop her occasional visits to Mipha, trying to give the Zora any sense of comfort in her endless battle. It would not escape, never.
She would keep forgetting, over a hundred years. Eventually the Zora Champion's unbreakable resolve was shattered, though she lasted a great many years longer than any of the other champions. Zelda couldn't remember why the lack of a soul within Vah Ruta hurt her so badly. She would miss Impa's daughter's birth and death, but still sent warm feelings to the elder, even though she couldn't remember a thing about the woman. She couldn't remember why the sleeping champion brought her so much hope and warmth, but letting her soul mingle with his made keeping the calamitous monstrosity sealed easier, so she continued. One day, as the sun crested the horizon and streamed through gritty stained glass, she finally forgot her name.

Short version is that the Department of Agriculture, which manages the U.S. Forest Service, has severely curtailed its obligation to public outreach and comment on its activities, to include timber sales and environmental impact reports. The foundation of a democracy is in the power of the voices of the people, and this decision circumvents our ability to give feedback on Forest Service decisions.
That means that it will be easier for the Forest Service to clearcut old-growth forests regardless of the ecological impact, and make it easier for profiteers to exploit the natural resources of these publicly owned lands. This decision was made to benefit the few, not the many, and it's blatantly obvious.
The deadline to make a public comment on this disastrous decision is August 4. Please get the word out!

This was the museum I went to often in my childhood. I'm no longer able to visit unless I visit family, but this place holds a special place in my heart.
As stated in the article, they hold around 7 million artifacts- many of which are orphaned fossils, with the museum taking in collections that otherwise would have been trashed.

Last night I was chatting with a friend and I was suddenly struck with the inspiration to write a goofy little blurb about windbombing or whatever for my fic Shattered Body.
A circular, glowing blue, bomb rests in an area of freshly cut grass, slowly wobbling back and forth. Its glowing, square, counterpart is balanced on top, wobbling even more than the circle bomb. Balanced on top of both of them, their arms out wide and a grin on their face, is Link, dressed in casual Sheikah clothes.
Off to the side, a safe enough distance away, Paya looks out past a mossy boulder. She's clasping a hand in front of her face, the look in her eyes equal parts concerned and incredulous.
"Are you sure?"
"Mmhm!"
"Okay, Link."
They flash her a thumbs up, then quickly rebalance themself.
"Three."
They brace their legs.
"Two."
Paya gently thumbs the button on the slate, her pointer already holding the trigger down.
"One."
They grin, wild and unhylian.
"Go," says Paya, pressing the button down as the word leaves her mouth.
The sound of a Sheikah tech bomb exploding will never not be weird to Paya, with how different it is to a bomb arrow's blast. No hiss of fuse and fire, just the hum of that blue magic and the wall of force blasting outwards. Wind rushes through her loose hair as the circle bomb explodes, sending the square bomb, and subsequently, Link, rocketing into the air at speed.
"No fucking way," murmurs Paya, an involuntary smile plastered on her face. "It WORKED!"
She drops the slate to the ground to shield her eyes from the sun and scans the sky for the hero, standing as she does. After a moment of searching, she spots Link floating back down on their paraglider, seemingly after being thrown relatively high into the air. Their distant laugh catches on her ears and can't stop from flapping her hands, a happy laugh pealing off her lips as well.

Hey everyone, I know it's going to be a busy day for a lot of people, but Google enrolled everyone over 18 into their AI program automatically.
If you have a google account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off.
Then you need to go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini and turn off all Gemini activity tracking. You do have to do them in that order to make sure it works.
Honestly, I'm not sure how long this will last, but this should keep Gemini off your projects for a bit.

More detail instructions for OP's post for those who are confused. This is done from the browser on my laptop, I don't know what they look like on phones.
When you click the first link gemini.google.com/extensions, you need to click on the setting icon at the bottom, then choose "Extension", like this:
Scroll down a bit, you will see the options, turn them all off.
Then, you click on the second link myactivity.google.com/product/gemini, you'll see it tells you that it's already "turn off". NO! IT'S NOT! You have to click on that "Turn off" option, it'll drop down a menu like this:
Turn that thing off. Until that button shows you have to click to turn it back on like this:
And then, click on the delete button down there too, even if it says there's nothing to delete, just do it as a caution.
After you's done with those two. You go to your Drive, find the Setting button.
Click on the "Privacy" tab, choose the button "Manage Workspace smart feature setting"
Tick both of those off, then click Save. Or if you still want to use Google AI assistant for some reasons, please read the fine lines very very carefully.
Only then, you can feel safe enough with this force AI assistant bullshit. FOR NOW 🤡 All these steps still can't get rid of that Gemini blinkblink icon though >:(((((
