I saw a screenshot of some AI gen (or photoshop idk) of Doctor who supporting Nigel Farage, and it pissed me off so much I drew him punching that stupid fucker in the head.

yeah yeah rainbow capitalism is bad and whatever but like. when I was a child, being pro gay was not the popular or lucrative choice. I'm happy that times have changed.
I miss rainbow capitalism. I do. I miss when it felt like public opinion was still pro gay. I understand it was always an empty gesture, but it mattered in a sense of knowing how socially acceptable being queer is. If that makes sense.

I hope OpenAI goes under. I hope ChatGPT and all similar AI are unplugged forever. And I hope everyone who's been relying on it cries about it.
ever since i was a little girl i knew i was doomed to take things too seriously and think about them forever
I feel like I need to share this because idk if Europeans are familiar with the presence of Aldi in the US, but at least especially in my area they’ve been growing a lot recently. Like Aldi bought out some local failing grocery chains where I live (Louisiana) and have opened Aldis in all these somewhat rural communities and small towns, which for the record I’m fine with
But as a result of this they are advertising a lot more in my area and also in many cases, the people in these areas have never been confronted with Aldi or any European grocery store. So the ads that Aldi is pushing out to its new US customer base feature a cowboy shopping at Aldi who is explaining to new Aldi customers how Aldi works. Like this cowboy is explaining you gotta put a quarter in the shopping cart and why there are very little name brands. A cowboy is how they want to reach their American customer base. They gave us a cowboy
Here he is, the Aldi Cowboy
there are some internet friends where eventually you start calling them by their real name and then there’s times where its like nah son your name is crispy forever
“If you’re not the beautiful one, the quick-witted one, or the ones that are good at games and full of youthful energy, then who are you? And what can you do if you’re the odd one out? Is it possible you’ll ever find a way to fit in?”
this one goes out to anyone who has ever escaped to a staircase when the party got to be too overwhelming
your ocs should have character flaws that make them morally complex and fun to analyze but importantly your ocs should also have character flaws that just kinda make them annoying sometimes. like sure he's an egotist that hurts people to teach them life lessons but he also has strong opinions about marvel movies and leaves all the dishes to his roommates. sure they're horribly self conscious and self sacrificing but they're also the kind of vegan who will quietly judge you for buying fast food. etc.
has anyone done this yet idk?
holdin out for a wriggle... holdin out for a wriggle whos the bug of the niiight
shes gotta be strong and shes gotta be fast and shes gotta have a butt thats a light
happy pride to the nhl player who was preparing to come out and changed his mind. I hope he's happy and loved.
american and british comedies often both start off with an ensemble cast of utter wankers, but american comedies tend towards rehabilitating their arseholes, whereas the brits just remain bastards forever
I would also add that American comedies often seem to feel a need early on to give unpleasant or abrasive characters some immediately endearing quality to make them easier to swallow.
Usually it's something quirky, cute, or oddly specific. They sing a children's song to help themselves fall asleep. They cry at one particular movie. They have a weird attachment to a stuffed animal. They secretly love baking. Something that quietly tells the audience, "don't worry, there's a soft center in there somewhere."
Or alternatively they'll give them a brief moment of genuine kindness or humanity very early on. One scene where they help someone, show vulnerability, or reveal they care about something beyond themselves. Not enough to fundamentally change who they are, just enough to cushion the landing.
It feels like American comedies are often in a hurry to reassure the audience that this character is ultimately lovable.
Whereas British comedies seem much more willing to go "no, this person is currently awful, irritating, petty, selfish, and occasionally kind of pathetic. Anyway, you'll be spending the next six episodes with them."
